Google has released three colour variants of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL so far, but a fourth has appeared on a Chinese auction site. Adorned in a matte grey finish, the device can be had for CNY 2,699, equivalent to around US$380.

The "Oh so Orange" version of the Pixel 4 XL is hard to come by these days, but the grey version pictured is even more elusive. Brought to our attention by XDA Developers and @akes29, the device in question has been listed for CNY 2,699 (~US$381) on Taobao.

Unquestionably a prototype, the engineering validation test (EVT) information reveals as much anyway, XDA Developers Forums have confirmed that it has an authentic IMEI. Although it is a working prototype, it is unclear whether this could be modified to run a custom ROM or a stock retail image.

The appearance of this "Really Gray" version of the Pixel 4 XL begs the question of why such a colour never made it to market. The device even includes a colour-matching power button. It would seem unlikely that Google would release a new colour variant of the Pixel 4 series this late into its product cycle though, making skins the only viable option of having a more muted looking Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL.
