PINE64 has re-released its developer-friendly PineTime smartwatch. This time, PINE64 aims the PineTime at consumers but without hiking the price up. The revised model is pre-built, comes with an OS installed and is IP67 water resistant.

The PineTime has been around since December 2019, albeit only really for developers. Now, PINE64 has unveiled a consumer-friendly model with a few changes that make it ready to use. You can still purchase the Dev Kit, mind you, although only with a sealed model for US$49.98.

According to PINE64, the consumer model comes with a sealed case, which it claims makes the smartwatch waterproof. Specifically, the PineTime offers IP67 water and dust resistance. It also comes with InfiTime 1.2 OS, but the waterproof seal restricts you from accessing the low-level debug interface, unless you open the PineTime, of course.

InfiTime 1.2 OS offers many features that you would find in a modern smartwatch, including heart rate monitoring, a pedometer and the ability to view notifications from your smartphone. The PineTime achieves the latter via one of two companion apps, links to which you can find in the PineTime wiki.

To recap, the PineTime has a 1.3-inch display, a 180 mAh battery and an ARM Cortex-M4F processor that runs at up to 64 MHz. PINE64 ships globally and includes a charger with every order.
