Teaser
Onlive now launches OnLive desktop service which allows its users to work on MS office software and also allows watching Flash videos on your tablets.

OnLive, known for their streaming Video game service releases OnLive desktop service, which allows the users to run Windows, based Microsoft Office programs. This acts on a similar principle as the online games, where the users are allowed to play games on the internet without buying the games.

It is mainly based on the concept of streaming as it is done with the videos on the internet. Now for the Microsoft Office programs most of the work will be done by the remote servers only and the online application will show a virtual desktop on your Android tablet or iPad. As no storage will be required to be made on the tablet the programs it runs fast.

This online desktop allows you to access the Microsoft Software as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and even Adobe Reader along with some other software. Other than these programs you cannot add any other software according to your wish. Each time you use it the system wipes out the data, but OnLive offers a way to save the document files if you want to access them later.

As soon as the users boot into the Onlive Desktop mode the Windows screen appears. Although all the controls are as similar to the desktop but the control and the Alt keys are included with a special ability which allows them to be used as shortcut to copy and paste. A Bluetooth is also supported for typing out long documents.

For saving documents currently they are offering 2GB space for free version. And by paying $4.99 per month the version can be upgraded to OnLive Desktop Plus, which allows the users to browse the web with Internet Explorer and can even watch Flash Videos and animations. You can also run Hulu Plus with the help of this OnLive desktop which was not possible earlier on Android tablets and iPads.

It is also being expected that the company will be releasing another Pro version for $9.99 per month and will offer 50GB of data storage. It will also come with the ability to customize the OnLive Desktop with other PC applications but till now the company has not revealed when the Pro-version will be available.
