Maze Mobile officially teases Alpha smartphone with extremely narrow bezels
Border-free designs may already be trickling down to more mainstream smartphones. We already know that major manufacturers have been marketing narrow borders for many flagship models including the Xiaomi Mi Mix, LG G6, and the Samsung Galaxy S8. The iPhone 7 successor will likely feature extra-narrow bezels as well according to rumors. Now, smaller Chinese manufacturers are beginning to incorporate similar design features.
Manufacturer Maze Mobile has unveiled an almost border-free smartphone called the Alpha that was also recently leaked by Evan Blass earlier in the month. So far, the short teaser on Facebook claims it to be a 6-inch FHD smartphone with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage space, 4000 mAh internal battery, and an unspecified octa-core SoC. The rear 13 MP camera will be a Sony sensor alongside another unspecified sensor for potential dual camera capabilities. The official specifications match closely to those leaked by Blass.
A second SKU is also in the works with only 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space.
It remains to be seen how much the smartphone will cost or when we can expect it to launch. Maze Mobile is not known for high-end devices as its current Maze Blade smartphone retails for just $130 USD. Sharp was the last manufacturer to launch a budget-mainstream smartphone with razor-thin bezels.
