The MSI WT73VR is a powerful system with performance that ranks among the top contenders in the class of 17-inch mobile workstations. For those with flashy, type-A personalities, its sci-fi race car design will be appealing. Low-key types may prefer more of an understated, elegant look, such as the two-tone slab of HP's ZBook 17 G4. The MSI is also a large machine, as are most 17-inch laptop workstations. Still, we found the WT to be a little thicker than others.

The ThinkPad P70 offers similar general performance, more brightness and longer longevity for only $2,346. However, you'll be sacrificing the ability to strap on a Rift or Vive. But if you're looking for a system to create the great works of tomorrow, today, the WT73VR is one of the most-capable machines you can find.

The MSI WT73VR 7RM still isn’t quite as capable as a desktop workstation, but that would be asking too much of a device you can actually carry from location to location without needing a van. However, at over 4kg and 49mm thick, you will need a strong bag to carry this device, and most laptop bags won’t cut it.

A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.

78.33%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
