The MSI Creator A16 AI+ is bolstered by the excellent AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, and its Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 metrics are solid enough. It also has a satisfying keyboard with a number pad, alongside clear audio, a decently colorful panel, and a sturdy magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis. However, it's held back by battery life that's a bit underwhelming for a creator laptop (even if it's decent for a gaming laptop), a flimsy trackpad, and toasty heat levels. It doesn't help that its price point is pretty steep, as $1,799 feels like a big ask for what it's offering, considering that the RTX 50-series is on the horizon. If you can do without the AI features, the Dell G16 (7630) also offers an RTX 4060 GPU with a far more colorful display at the same resolution and refresh rate, yet it's only $949.

The MSI Creator A16 AI+ is a creator's dream. Unfortunately, almost all its performance eggs are in one AI basket, but that's pretty unavoidable nowadays. With MSI AI Engine and Nvidia Studio, this is a laptop that packs a punch. At 16 inches, it's not the most portable option on the market but if MSI were to add a 14 or 15-inch alternative into the range, then they'd really make a significant dent in the market.

The MSI Creator A16 AI+ is a fine example of a creator laptop for most, especially if they prefer Windows over Mac. With the combined might of its AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 365 and RTX 4060 GPU, you'll be getting plenty of performance to breeze through photo and video edits, and even have enough power to tackle the latest PC games when you're all done with that creative work. At its $1,799 price (and even below $1,500 at a discount), it's a laptop that workers and students can take advantage of, even compared to its pricier competition. But it could be better, and for many creators, I can imagine it would be worth giving the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370/RTX 4070 combo a look, especially since it comes with a higher resolution UHD+ mini-LED display. It would make a fine entry to the best laptops for video editing, but that depends on the configuration it comes in. Either way, if you're after a powerful laptop to get through creative work, the MSI Creator A16 AI+ will do the trick.

The MSI Creator A16 AI+ has all the ingredients for an ideal image- or video-editing laptop: a powerful 12-core processor, GeForce RTX 4060 graphics, lots of RAM and a fast SSD. A premium, high-res, high-refresh-rate display also promises stunning visuals. Heck, there's even a 6-speaker sound system. But sadly I found the A16 didn't always live up to expectations. Disappointing screen uniformity, weak sound, and just a single USB-C port just don't cut it for a premium, creator-focussed device. These shortcomings aren't fundamental flaws, but the competition in this sector is too strong for issues like this to be acceptable, making the MSI Creator A16 AI+ tough to recommend.

16.00:
This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.

73.75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
