Archive.org versionWhile the MSI CX620 3D is a decent all round laptop, it really disappoints in its 3D playback performance. For this price range, you can easily find better alternatives with marginally higher specifications from MSI’s other range of laptops.

Archive.org versionThere are a few things about the MSI CX620 we'd like to change: the layout of the keyboard and the location of the USB 2.0 ports, and we'd give it a less glossy screen and install a faster hard drive. It's still a decent notebook for everyday tasks and home entertainment, but we wouldn't go out of our way to find it in a store. MSI is no longer selling the CX620, but it is still available from some retailers.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470: Entry level DirectX 11 chip with GDDR5 support but only 80 shader cores. Supports Eyefinity (up to 4 monitors) and 8-ch HD audio over HDMI. Performance on par with the old GeForce 8600M GT.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 545v: Renamed HD 5145 GPU (which is a slightly high clocked HD 4570) and therefore an entry level graphics card with DirectX 10.1 support.

Intel Core i5:
430M:
The Core i5-430M is a middle class dual core CPU that features only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Furthermore, VT-d, trusted Execution and AES features are missing in the 430M. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics with 500-733 MHz) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
Intel Core i3:
330M:
The Core i3-330M is a slower clocked 350M and therefore also lacks the Turbo Boost feature and clocks with max. 2.13 GHz. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD 3150) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
