MIO-5356: Compact motherboard comes with Intel CPU and plenty of possibilities

The Advantech MIO-5356 is a relatively compact motherboard with an integrated SoC. The manufacturer markets the system as a single-board computer, although not all the components required for operation are actually integrated. For example, DDR5 RAM with a capacity of up to 64GB still needs to be installed. There is also no onboard storage, so an M.2 SSD will typically be used for fast storage.
The board will be available with the Intel Core 7 350, Intel Core 5 320, and Intel Core 3 305. Although the system is sold without a cooler, one will of course be absolutely necessary. The Advantech MIO-5356 board therefore also includes a fan header. Video output is available via two DisplayPort connections, one supporting DisplayPort 1.4a and the other 2.1. HDMI 2.1 is also included. The two DisplayPort outputs use USB Type-C and therefore also support data transfer. LVDS for video output is supported as well.
Accessories or external storage devices can be connected through two USB 3.2 Type-A ports and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports. The board, which measures 5.7 x 4.0 inches, also includes additional M.2 slots. These could be used to connect, for example, a wireless network card or a cellular modem. No information on price or availability is available yet. Advantech is also likely targeting professional customers with this board.
