Logitech unveils joystick and keyboard add-ons for iPad
Famous for its line of above-average quality PC and notebook accessories, Logitech this week unveiled two new accessories designed for iPad use. Unfortunately, non-iPad owners appear to be out of luck here.
The first item is a physical joystick with a spiral design that attaches to the tablet by means of a suction cup. Although simple in structure, its potential usefulness is immense for all those heavy iPad gamers out there. The joystick, or D-pad, has become one of the most essential controls for gaming, so this physical attachment should instantly improve gameplay for joystick-sensitive games such as Gameloft’s N.O.V.A.
Of course, those wanting to actually increase their productivity with the tablet can have a look at Logitech’s second accessory. Alongside the joystick, the peripheral company will be launching a 2-in-1 full-size Bluetooth keyboard and docking station. According to TechCrunch, the keyboard will shut down automatically if the iPad is off and turn on when physically connected to the iPad.
Logitech announced its plans to ramp up production of tablet accessories way back in January in order to make up for slowing PC sales. It is likely that we’ll see more tablet-centric products from the company if these latest add-ons prove successful.
Expect the Logitech joystick to cost $19.99 and the Bluetooth keyboard a hefty $129.99. The manufacturer is currently accepting pre-orders for both with a ship time of early September.
