Retractable touchpad adds multi-touch support while keeping your lap cool

Logitech’s Lapdesk line of products is designed to keep laps cool while occasionally adding extra speakers and fans. Now the newly launched Touch Lapdesk N600 is taking things to another level by skipping the fans and speakers and going with a multi-touch trackpad instead.

The Lapdesk N600 features an expansive 5” retractable touchpad that slides out from the side of the desk. According to Logitech, the touchpad is capable of identifying up to 3 finger gestures and comes with a pair of large right and left mouse buttons underneath. In addition, the new Lapdesk also has a variety of multimedia buttons along the side taking care of volume and launching the notebook's browser.

Although users of more recent notebooks might not get much use out of the new Lapdesk, owners of older, multi-touch lacking notebooks are sure to appreciate the accessory. In addition, the positioning of the touchpad at the side of the Lapdesk is pretty ergonomic and could provide a solid alternative for users unhappy with their laptop’s current trackpad.

The Lapdesk N600 is currently unavailable but should ship around June 13th for a price of $70 ($65 from JR.com).
