The powerful internals mean that you can use it for anything from video editing to gaming. Yes, I said you can use a ThinkPad to play games, and those games look really pretty on the OLED display. In fact, so do the videos and photos that you're editing. Like I said, this machine is simply great for everything that you throw at it.

The XPS, due to its lower price, is a more accessible model for most consumers. And the X1 Extreme’s weaker chips and poor battery life, in particular, are tough pills to swallow at such a high price. But there’s still a market for the X1 Extreme — and if you’re willing to sacrifice a bit of power, a bit of money, and a bit of battery life for the unique advantages of a ThinkPad, you probably fall into it.

They don't have mobile workstations' independent software vendor (ISV) certifications for specialized computer-aided design, rendering, and scientific apps, but elite systems for digital content creators are some of our favorite laptops. The Dell XPS 15 and the Apple MacBook Pro 16-Inch are probably the best-known, but everyone from Acer and Asus to Gigabyte, Razer, and MSI competes in this space—as does Lenovo, which has just unveiled a third generation of its 15.6-inch ThinkPad X1 Extreme (starts at $1,479; $2,913 as tested). The new Extreme combines elegant design and solid performance with alluring features led by a gorgeous OLED display. Its battery life is a little disappointing and it can't double as a gamer as some competitors can, but it's a first-class creative and productivity partner.

The X1 Extreme 3rd gen is refreshed with Intel 10th gen H series 45 watt CPUs up to a Core i9, and dedicated graphics get a little boost to the NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q. The casing remains the same as last gen. There are FHD IPS, wide gamut IPS 4K and our 4K OLED touch screen with pen support to choose from. The laptop is easily serviced and upgradable, has a fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, optional 4G LTE and 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports in addition to a healthy selection of legacy ports and a full size SD card slot. It competes with the Dell XPS 15 and 16” MacBook Pro.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops that uses a Turing TU117 chip without raytracing and Tensor cores. Runs at reduced clock speeds compared to a laptop GTX 1650 Ti to achieve a much lower power consumption (35 versus 50 - 80 Watt).

80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
