Little brother. We liked the Moto G4 Plus, and now we can review the slightly slimmed-down Moto G4. What are the differences?

Moto G4 And G4 Plus Review: What Are The Pros And Cons?
Source: Forbes English
It seems that the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. If you are looking to own an Android device, then I would strongly consider getting either the Moto G4 or G4 Plus — especially if you are on a budget. Personally, I would take the G4 Plus over the G4 because of its superior camera and memory hardware along with the fingerprint sensor.

With a Nexus line that only offers one or two new phones a year, we need more handsets running pure Android. And the Moto phones - the affordable Es, the well-rounded Gs and flagship Xs - were some of the best such phones. Of course, they were made by Google-owned Motorola! There were some doubts about the future of the company and its fate after the sale to Lenovo, but so far the Chinese tech giant has proven to be a great shepherd of the beloved Moto brand. Its wide distribution network is actually helping Moto phones reach more markets than before.

The design might not be to everyone's taste, but it's certainly not going to put many people off – and if you're after a phone on a budget you're probably not going to be overly fussy. Considering how good-looking the display is, and how impressive the performance is – and the battery life isn't too bad either – it's hard to see how anyone could be disappointed with the Moto G4.

Now in its fourth generation the new Moto G is just as essential as ever. But it has its work cut out if it wants to be heard above the cacophony of its competitors. Luckily Lenovo knows how to marry build quality with value, so the G4 retains some of the magic that accounts for its popularity year on year. Quite simply it's a joy to behold.

We shouldn’t have doubted the Motorola team at Lenovo – the Moto G4 is outstanding value. Staggering battery life, a great screen as well smooth responsiveness and slick performance make for a great smartphone – pricier phones have been sold on less. If you want an excellent quality camera as well as a fingerprint reader and the fastest possible performance, then you’ll still need to look elsewhere.

We’re even in two minds about whether you really need to upgrade to the Plus. The upgrade is definitely a bargain, but if you’re not bothered about a finger scanner, the camera is already good enough to serve up top-quality snaps. Either way, the Moto G4 is a phenomenally good phone that's going for a steal.

The Moto G4 Play supports WLAN WiFi 802.11 b/g/n along with support for WiFi Direct and NFC connectivity plus Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP and GPS. There is also built in sensor support for accelerometer and proximity features. Earlier I mentioned that the removable battery pack had a capacity of 2800 mAh. Running my continuous movie running test resulted in my having a dead battery after approximately 8.2 hours of video watching. I did feel a little short-changed by the amount of time delivered by this aspect of the handset.

Sure, not everything about the G4 Play is great. The uninspired plastic design goes in stark contrast to some of the attractive metal bodies I’ve seen in entry-level devices from Chinese OEMs. The handset still lacks 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi, which is a disappointment, and Motorola’s camera app is simply horrible. Also, don’t count on fast security updates for this device, although Motorola has promised an update to Android 7.0 in the near future.

Moto G4 Play Review: Budget Android, Full-Featured And Unlocked
Source: Hot Hardware English
Its benchmark scores aren't very strong, but to be fair, we weren’t expecting chart-topping performance from such an affordable, unlocked smartphone. The Moto G4 Play simply isn’t trying to be the best of the best. Instead, it’s meant to offer good real-world performance for a very budget-friendly price and it accomplishes that goal well. The fact that the phone offers decent battery life, good cameras, and is clean and free of unnecessary apps and bloatware are additional perks, particularly for someone who just wants a basic, no-frills smartphone that won't break the bank.

The Moto G4 Play is a simple budget smartphone that offers clean Android interface, reasonably fluent everyday performance, and a reliable battery. It is certainly not the most exciting smartphone around, and at this price, the Lenovo Vibe K5 and Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime are better performers. They also deliver better value for your money, along with more features.

Motorola has budget phones down to a near-science, so we had no doubt that the Moto G4 Play would deliver as a reliable, great bang-for-your-buck device. The Moto G4 Play’s shortcomings are nothing more than what comes with the territory of affordable phones, for the most part: an exceptionally plain design, a middling camera, and decent but not terribly fast performance.

The ancient Greeks advised us, “know thyself,” and that's an important aphorism to keep in mind when considering the Moto G4 Play. Yeah, the processor is all kinds of old, the camera is serviceable, at best, and we find neither tons of storage, nor the sort of Moto Maker customizations available for higher-end Motos. But you've got to remember: this is the bottom-rung Moto phone in many markets (those without the E3 Power, at least), and when we're only paying $150 for a handset, we're not expecting a ton in the first place.

Perhaps a better way to explain the Moto G4 Play is to call it an overachieving mediocre phone. I know, it makes no sense, but when you look at its benchmarks, the scores are really low. Yet, daily use doesn’t suffer in the same manner the HTC Desire 530 did, which scored just below the G4 Play.

Moto G4 Play review: Decent performance, but nothing exceptional
Source: The Indian Express English
Moto G4 Play is a decent budget smartphone that will please most buyers. If fingerprint scanner is not your priority in a smartphone, then go for the G4 Play. Remember, the device does lag in terms of performance, especially during gaming. Competitions to consider in the segment include – Xiaomi 3s Prime, slightly higher Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 1s, and Lenovo K5 Note.

90% Lenovo Moto G4 in-depth review - G for good
Source: Mobile Choice English
The G4 is a very well-rounded smartphone. Sensible pricing, pure android, good cameras and no-nonsense build quality coupled with the infinite customisation options make it an almost irresistible budget option, but I would have preferred for it to be slightly smaller, waterproof and with a non-plastic body. But it is great as it is.

Moto G4 Play review: The year’s best budget phone
Source: Talk Android English
While the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus feel lost in the world, the Moto G4 Play is right on target. Its average specifications match the price tag, so you’re getting exactly what you pay and it’s cheaper than last year’s model as well. See, Lenovo is being straightforward with the Moto G4 Play. There isn’t any ambiguity surrounding what the phone is capable of. At $149, the Moto G4 Play is everything the Moto G (2016) could have been. This is it. We didn’t need the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The best budget device on the market today is Lenovo’s Moto G4 Play.

If you are looking for a budget device with latest Android and stock experience without any bloatware, then Moto G4 Play is the perfect choice with decent performance, good camera and battery life. But when you look at the competition at Rs 8,999 you will find that the Moto G4 Play is slightly overpriced especially with Redmi 3S Prime offering 3GB RAM, Fingerprint scanner, better battery life and also 32GB storage at the same price.

Then there's the 8-megapixel rear facing camera. Honestly, I was surprised by its better-than-average performance. Is it the best phone camera out there? No way. But in good light, it takes good photos. In mixed light, it takes OK photos. And in low light, it struggles and images tend to have some noise. Skin tones looked fairly natural in selfies, and for those who like such things, there is an optional beauty mode. The Moto G4 Play shot serviceable 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution video at 30 frames per second (fps). Take a look at some of the snaps I took with the Moto G4 Play in the gallery below.

Lenovo Moto G5

Lenovo Moto G5 is one of the budget smartphones which features performance without splashing much cash. Being under the Moto G series, it still remains as an affordable smartphone with great performance and design. This time around, Lenovo has tried to amp up the design and feel of the Moto G5 quite a bit. Looking at the predecessor of the Moto G5, The Moto G4 had metal at its sides with a plastic plate on its back. However, the Moto G5 inverts this. It’s really mostly plastic, but tricking into thinking it’s mostly metal by slipping a thin sheet of aluminium into the rear. The user can pull the whole back off. Upon pulling the back off, the plastic coat with a metal panel can be seen. The Moto G5 is a lovely phone to hold. It is not slippery and with just the right amount of grip. The fine-grained matte finish on the rear is a big step forward in terms of sophistication.
The design of the Moto G5 shows an effort to seem more premium than the Moto G4. The lines between the metal and plastic on the back, and the big black glass circle holding the camera look more deliberate than most designs bunged into a Moto G to date. The look is bezel-heavy too, meaning the G5 is 3mm wider than the Galaxy S7 even though it has a slightly smaller screen. As for the display, the Moto G5 is about 5 inches across. This makes the Moto G5 more pocketable and easier to use one-handed than before. Display quality is great for the price. It is a 1080p screen, which delivers fantastic sharpness. Colours do look fairly natural, reasonably well-saturated, and there’s a toggle in the Settings menu that allows users to flick between a normal and slightly more saturated look. The vivid mode looks fairly close to the display of a much more expensive phone.
Under the hood, it is a similar story. The base Moto G5 has a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It has a microSD slot available to get more storage space. For the rear camera, core specifications remain the same with an aperture of f/2 and resolution of 13 megapixels. According to Motorola, it has improved the camera over the G4, though, adding phase-detect autofocus to speed up capture. As for the front camera, the front 5MP camera is nowhere near the best out there. It is basic, but fine for the cash. The Moto G5 has a 2800mAh battery. A user can also remove the battery, which is a real rarity these days. For the operating system, the Moto G5 runs more-or-less pure Android, with just a few Moto tweaks. The active display shows the time, battery life and any notifications icons , even if the phone is in standby mode. The idea is to be able to see what is up without actually waking it up fully. There are some Moto-staple gestures too. A couple of quick flicks toggle the torch and a sharp turn of the phone in hand zaps right to the camera from standby. As usual, the user can toggle all of these features in the Moto app.

If you find the Moto G4 at the same price as the Moto G5 or cheaper, there’s a very good argument for buying the older model unless you prefer the design of the new model. The screen’s bigger, the processor a little faster and the camera similar in terms of image quality.

There’s plenty of competition in Android’s budget market, but the Moto G5 is the best around right now. The build quality alone feels like it belongs on a much more expensive phone, while the fingerprint gesture controls genuinely improve the Android experience.

The build quality alone feels like it belongs on a much more expensive phone, while the fingerprint gesture controls genuinely improve the Android experience. The benchmarks and battery hold it back, but they're not unreasonable given the price - and you won't find a much better looking phone at £169. All that said, it may be worth holding on until 25 July when Motorola may be announcing a premium version of the G5 and G5 Plus.

Moto G5 vs G5s
Source: PC Advisor English
The upgrades might appeal to some, but the big price hike won't. The G5s is better built and battery capacity returns to what it was in the Moto G4, but the new unibody design means the battery is no longer removable. Processing power remains the same, so for many, the original G5 still represents the best value.

With other manufacturers pushing into pricier brackets, the Moto G5 sticks to its £169 guns and delivers a fairly knock-out performance for the price point. It's more sophisticated to look at than its G4 predecessor, will handle all manner of tasks easily, and has a nifty fingerprint scanner too.

At $299 this is the cheapest smartphone we’ve seen in a long while – even less than the $328 Oppo A57. Which would we rather have? Well, the Oppo has a better processor and 3GB of RAM. We’d also say that the cameras were slightly better too – especially the high-resolution selfie camera. It also comes with a free case.

Thumbs up to Motorola Australia for committing to quarterly security updates for the Moto G5 as well as a definite update to Android version O. 70% Moto G5 review: Nougat on a budget`
Source: Neowin English
All said and done, the latest entry in the G-series is good but leaves a lot to be desired. This feels like a half-thought-out G5 Plus and, frankly, it’s a little confusing. On its own, the Moto G5 is an interesting proposal. It tries to be a lot for a lot less, something Moto G has stood for since forever but falls short on several counts. Lenovo cut too many corners to bring the cost down on the G5, and it shows. The way I see it, the company is giving consumers two choices. One, either go all the way and buy a G5 Plus which has everything this phone doesn’t including an all-metal unibody, more internal storage, a better camera and processor or, a buy a G5 which trades off all these features by having a removable battery, expandable storage, and a smaller price-tag. So, if you want Nougat on a budget and can temper your expectations, Moto G5 may just be a good fit.

Overall, I actually like the Moto G5. For its price of just AED 699, the G5 is quite an impressive phone. Sure it has a few flaws in terms of design and features, but it can be overlooked due to it being a budget phone. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a decent phone without having to shell out too much.

Moto G5 review: A good, but not game-changing smartphone
Source: The Indian Express English
There aren’t many faults in the Moto G5; still it is hard recommending this phone. Instead Moto G5 Plus seems a more better proposition, even though it is more expensive. Essentially you’re paying for a better processor, more storage, a better camera, and a larger screen. The G5 Plus is clearly a better phone over the G5. If you’re not interested in either of the phones, the Redmi Note 4 might be the better option.

Source: GSM Arena English
When the Moto G first came out, it was all about offering a great smartphone experience at a low price. Today, the price is still fairly low but the experience is no longer great, at least with this particular device. The Moto G5 feels like a compromise in a way the original never did. We haven't had chance to spend a lot of time with the more expensive G5 Plus but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it is the premiere Moto G experience; the one we have been led to expect by now. Unfortunately, it is also much more expensive, which means we have gone from having a great experience at a low price to having to choose between the two.

85% Moto G5 review: Motorola's affordable mid-range handset continues to impress
Source: Zdnet.com English
In evaluating the Moto G5 we have to remember that it costs just £159. Given its affordability, a metal backplate, a good fingerprint sensor with additional controls on the sensor pad, a range of additional gesture controls, a separate second SIM slot and a decent 5-inch screen are all significant plus points. That said, it's not a big advance on last year's Moto G4, which has a larger 5.5-inch display. The 2016 model remains an attractive option, and could be real bargain if picked up second-hand.

75% Moto G5 review: Pure Android Nougat saves the day for it
Source: India Today English
Absolutely. But buy it for the Android Nougat experience. In my opinion the almost stock Android experience on the Moto G5 is worth its price. The Android Nougat keeps the phone simple, usable and functional. The fact that the Moto G5 has all the basic feature you need in the phone, along with a rather premium look and feel, also makes it a very likable phone.

Absolutely. But buy it for the Android Nougat experience. In my opinion the almost stock Android experience on the Moto G5 is worth its price. At Rs. 11,999, the Moto G5's biggest attraction is its near-stock Android Nougat experience, and the Google Assistant feature which is hard to find on any other device in this price segment. Those looking for alternatives should consider the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime which packs a lot of the same hardware. The Panasonic Eluga Ray Max (First impressions), which was recently unveiled, could also be a decent option at this price point. Users looking for more power can choose between the Lenovo K6 Power (Review) or the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review).

Overall, the Moto G5 is a good overall smartphone, and has something to offer for everyone. It isn’t the most well-built smartphone, but is definitely one of the most ergonomic. It doesn't have the most vibrant display to consume content, but isn't bad either. The display is visible in the sun, and everyday performance is acceptable. The buit-in speaker and limited 16GB storage are the only drawbacks. We do not recommend anyone to buy a phone with 16GB storage, unless all you need is calling, basic messaging apps and internet access.

Moto G5 First Impressions: Nothing new here, folks!
Source: The Mobile Indian English
Overall, the Motorola Moto G5 has its hits and misses. The smartphone carries a compact design, but it is a tad similar to its elder sibling. The device has a clean user interface with a host of interesting features, but still when compared to the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Honor 6X, which has a strong record in terms of performance and gives a premium look, the smartphone lags behind the competition, at least on papers.

The Moto G5 is not really an exceptional device for its price of Rs 11,999 and we did not find our jaws crawling on the ground while we reviewed it (something that happened when we were reviewing the Xiaomi Redmi 4A – the camera surprised us big time in particular) but considering the fact that it is a budget segment phone, the G5 has not done too poorly in any of the departments.

There’s fierce competition in Android’s mid-range market, but the Moto G5 is a strong contender. The build quality alone feels like it belongs on a much more expensive phone, while the fingerprint gesture controls genuinely improve the Android experience. The benchmarks and battery hold it back, but they're not unreasonable given the price - and you won't find a much better looking phone at £169. You might want to spend the extra to get the Moto G5 Plus with more storage, a better camera and more.

The new Moto G5 stays true to the G family formula, focussing on aspects like design, battery, camera and at £169, affordability. Certain elements, like storage, fall short of the mark, but for the most part, the Moto G5 packs in plenty of character, functionality and should appeal to social media butterflies, the budget conscious or just fans of the G series brand.

There’s fierce competition in Android’s mid-range market, but the Moto G5 looks like a clear standout.

Moto G5
Source: Trusted Reviews English
Motorola has consistently impressed with the Moto G range, offering great hardware at a very reasonable price. This year it looks to have done exactly that once again. The Snapdragon 430 is a bit of a letdown, and it remains to be seen how much performance will be impacted. For the most part, though, the Moto G5 keeps everything that made last year's model great, and brings a new design along with a load of new features that should be enough to keep the Moto G series at the top of the mid-range market.

Moto G5 preview: The best budget phone, now dressed in a full metal jacket

As affordable phones go, none can better than Moto G5 from what we've seen of it. That it's an improved device compared to the earlier G4 - both in terms of spec and style - is quite an achievement given that the price point remains a very reasonable £169.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus hands on: bringing premium looks to the mid-range
Source: Android Authority English
There’s no pretending these phones are anything even close to flagships in specs, but they certainly look the part. Samsung has successfully delivered its premium design to the Galaxy A series and the same approach will likely work wonders for Lenovo too. They deliver the same tried-and-true recipe the Moto G series has become famous for, but they do it in a style typically reserved for flagship phones. And that sounds like a recipe worth repeating.

Lenovo Moto G5 Plus

The Lenovo Moto G5 Plus was unveiled at the MWC 2017 trade show. So far, there have been four generations of the Moto G, and while not all have done equally well, they have definitely been in demand. The company will hope that Moto G5 Plus can build on the success of its predecessors. It is the first Moto G-series phone to have a metal body and is also the first smartphone in its price category to launch with Android Nougat out-of-the-box. Motorola has managed to keep the price competitive while offering enough features for this phone to compete with models that cost more. With this fifth generation, the Moto G has finally been given a metal body. The Moto G5 Plus now sport an aluminium finish, and the big-screen Moto G5 Plus model definitely feels sturdy. At first glance, the new Moto G5 Plus looks a lot like the mid-range Moto Z Play. The biggest differentiator is the oval fingerprint sensor that sits right below the screen, as opposed to the Moto Z's square one. At 7.7mm thick, the Moto G5 Plus isn't very slim, but that but helps to grip the phone better.
The power and volume buttons are on the right, located comfortably for single-hand operation. The 3.5mm audio jack and Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer are at the bottom. At the up top is the SIM tray, which also holds microSD cards to supplement the 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. For display, the Moto G5 Plus features a 1080p IPS LCD panel with flawless viewing angles. However, that colours are somewhat muted compared to the vivid OLED displays on the Moto Z line even in the vibrant display mode. Below the screen is a wide, oblong fingerprint reader. By default, it is just like Moto’s other fingerprint scanners that will unlock the phone or lock it again when you hold your finger down a bit longer. But there is also a neat trick that turns off Android’s on-screen buttons (back, home, and recent) and allow users to replicate them with swiping gestures.
The biggest feature that Lenovo is emphasising with the G5 Plus is the camera inside. It’s a 12-megapixel f/1.7 sensor with larger individual pixels to pull in more light. There’s a pro mode that allows users to adjust white balance, shutter speed and ISO. Compared to other phones in this price range, the G5’s camera is ahead. The G5 Plus includes a Snapdragon 625, which pairs eight 2.0GHz ARM Cortex A53 CPU cores with a 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU. The Moto G5 Plus supports two Nano-SIMs, both of which can connect to 4G networks, though only one at a time. NFC, VoLTE, and GLONASS are also supported. The phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery and supports TurboPower fast charging. It measures 150.2x74x7.7mm. The G5 Plus is definitely a benchmark for other mid-range smartphones. With good features, software and a very reasonable price, it will be the choice for many users out there.

80% Moto G5 Plus review: a five star phone with a three star camera
Source: T3 English
The Moto G5 Plus is good value for money, but the camera disappoints and there’s no Android Pay in the US. The Moto range offers premium-smartphone looks and features at very low prices, and the Moto G5 Plus is no exception. This 2018 refresh of the G4 Plus has been improved inside and out, and it’s cheaper than the outgoing G4 Plus too. It’s just odd that US customers don’t get the same NFC features that everybody else in the world can get.

Moto G5 Plus quick review – when the mid-range provides you with everything needed
Source: Laptop Media English
Moto G5 Plus lived up to our expectations for one of the best models in the middle range. It has nice appearance with metal construction and fingerprint sensor in the front part. The screen resolution is again Full HD but its diagonal is 5.2 inches, which suggests more comfortable operation with one hand, as well as better image detail. The battery has again a capacity of 3000mAh but improvement in the durability can be clearly seen.

70% A Solid Mid-Range Phone: The Moto G5 Plus (Review and Giveaway)
Source: Make Use Of English
The Moto G5 Plus is somewhere in-between. It’s not the best value you can get for a smartphone, and it’s not the most innovative smartphone out there, but it’s a decent balance of the two. If you’re looking for something better than a budget device, but can’t quite go to a $700 phone, it’s a good compromise.

90% Moto G5 Plus Review: Budget Done Right
Source: Tom's Guide English
For many people, it may come down to which carrier they prefer. And since the Blade V8 Pro and the Honor 6X won't work on Verizon or Sprint, that makes the G5 Plus an easy pick. But on top of that, if you are an Amazon Prime member, the G5 Plus' discounted price of $185 for the 2GB/32GB model or $240 for the 4GB/64GB version makes this phone a steal, especially the model with more RAM and extra storage (even with Amazon's special deals). Regardless of your carrier or your Amazon Prime status, though, the G5 Plus is definitely one of the best budget phones you can get right now.

Motorola Moto G5 Plus review - Another worthy camera-centric mid-range phone
Source: Tech Nave English
By all means, the Moto G5 Plus is not a perfect mid-range phone. There's the weird panorama feature which I think would disappoint some phoneography enthusiasts, same goes to consumers who are into selfies since there's no beauty mode to be found. But other than that, there's nothing much to complain about the device. It has a nearly perfect camera, good battery life and charging, no heating issue after a few minutes of gaming, and convenient ways to open apps by using the shaking motion sensor. So looking from a camera-angle point of view, it is actually more value than the RM1299 price tag it is going for.

Moto G5 Plus Review: The Mid-Ranger to Beat

The Moto G5 Plus may not offer the best value for money, but the device as a whole is a very complete mid-range smartphone. Its software experience is polished and pleasant to use, it has great battery life, and its camera is actually pretty good – bar the low light performance.

The Moto G5 Plus is a great Google Pixel alternative at an affordable price
Source: KL Gadget Guy English
If you can look past the not so attractive design of the Moto G5 Plus, the beauty lies in the user experience of the product itself, there has been no indication of how much Lenovo intends to sell the device in Malaysia, it is already on sale in India at the price of 14,999.00 Rupees, which translates to around MYR990. If the G5 Plus is priced below RM1,000, I’m sold. We’ll be back with the full review of the Moto G5 Plus once we get hold of a review unit.

Moto G5 Plus preview
Source: GSM Arena English
As the phone that single-handedly created the quality budget smartphone category, we hold the Moto G in high regard and also have high expectations from very new device in the lineup. The Moto G5 we tested earlier didn't quite meet our expectations in that regard. However, the G5 Plus hits the mark and reminds us again why we love this series. It's far from perfect and there are areas where we would like to see it improve. We could use a bit more power under the hood. The design could bit a bit more compact and make better use of space. The design itself could also stand to improve aesthetically as recent models have taken to a more drab appearance. And how about a USB-C connector next time?

The Moto G5 Plus is available in two flavours, one with 3GB/16GB RAM for $399 and our review unit’s 4GB/32GB RAM for $449. It’s hard to see how the $50 premium would effect performance too much. Hardcore users who require the extra RAM for top-end applications will probably look at more powerful phones… or will they?

It perhaps can't be called truly budget any more, given the price is a long way off from the days of the first-gen device, but then you get a lot more for your money: metal build, some tempting specs and overall performance and software that delivers as much, if not more, than most will ever need.

Moto G5 Plus review: Back to being the best mid-range phone
Source: Talk Android English
The Moto G5 Plus looks way out of its class. Where else are you going to pay $229 for a phone that’s made of metal? Better yet, where else are you going to pay $229 for a phone that’s anywhere close to the Moto G5 Plus on paper? Lenovo’s latest mid-range offering is one of a kind. The design is remarkable considering the price, the performance is as smooth as a $400+ phone, and the battery life goes the distance. Not a single company or phone can compete.

The Moto G5 Plus is priced at $229 for the 32 GB storage and 2 GB of RAM of model, while the higher-end version with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM will set you back $299. This is the same price tier as its predecessors, and it does feel like you get a little more each and every year despite the unchanging price point. Granted, this is in part due to technology continuing to get better and cheaper, but a lot also has to do with the ever increasing competition in this space.

Moto G5 Plus Review

The Moto G5 Plus is not without its flaws. It is clearly inferior to its competition in some aspects, with the dull display and design particularly being a disappointment. Despite its flaws though, it is an excellent mid-range handset. The excellent combination of hardware, software, and camera setup ensures that the G5 Plus will age well unlike many other devices out there. As for its camera performance, while it is impressive, there is still room for improvement here.

Another year, another pair of great affordable handsets from Motorola. The smaller, 5-inch Moto G5 offers reliable performance thanks to Android 7.0 Nougat, and a surprisingly good 13-megapixel camera. This is not only the best Moto G, but also the most expensive one. The 3GB RAM variant with 16GB storage is priced at Rs 14,999 and the 4GB RAM version with 32GB storage at Rs 16,999. Comparing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage is at Rs 12,999. Moto is not offering a 64GB variant. Overall we're really impressed by the design of the Moto G5 Plus and the specs are good considering the price tag, but we'd still consider opting for the G5 instead. It's a whole £80 cheaper and we’re not sure the extra power and improved camera are worth that extra cash. The 0.2in difference in screen size is hardly noticeable, either. That's not to say this isn't a good mid-range phone, though. It can certainly compete with the Galaxy A3 and the Nokia 6, but so can the Moto G5 with that lower price. It's a tricky one to recommend when its smaller and cheaper sibling is so great!

If you're looking for a great phone that won't break the bank, the Motorola Moto G5 Plus checks all the boxes. It has a premium metal build, a sharp display, long battery life, a solid good camera, up-to-date software, and some pretty cool unique features. Whether you pay $185 for the Amazon Prime version, or $300 for the fully loaded model reviewed here, you get more bang for your buck than the $250 Honor 6X. Yes, the Axon 7 has a faster processor and a higher-resolution display, but it also costs more and you can't use it on Sprint or Verizon. So if you're shopping for a new phone and $300 (or even $200) is the top of your budget, you can't beat the Moto G5 Plus. That makes it an Editors' Choice.

OK, while none of these are a deal breaker for me, there are some things I find annoying. The G5 Plus has NFC and that means you can use Android Pay -- unless you live in the US. Motorola has a winner in the Moto G5 Plus. The phone isn't perfect, and yet it delivers a consistent and enjoyable experience no matter how you look at it. Motorola traded in the cheap, flashy plastics of older G series handsets for finer, more sedate metals in the G5 Plus. The result is a pleasing handset that looks and feels better than the price point. The phone has a great full HD screen, excellent build quality, and a nice size/weight. Everyone will be happy with the battery life and wireless performance, though call quality was a bit of a drag.

Absolutely. But buy it for the overall experience, and especially for that clean Android Nougat. Although the Moto G5 Plus performs well in all areas and has a nice enough design, its biggest strength remains its overall experience. Once again it is a Moto G, which is bigger than any one single part. Its camera is one of the best we have seen in this price bracket and its performance is fantastic, complete with the clean Android. Its design is attractive, although a curved glass on the screen, could have been the cherry on the cake.

Moto G5 Plus Review: Decent Phone, Decent Price… Smells like Moto G Spirit!
Source: Tech PP English
Priced at Rs 14,999/Rs 16,999, the Moto G5 Plus is a great device in the budget phone segment but faces a lot of competition from the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Honor 6X, and the Nubia N1, all priced considerably lower. Interestingly, each of those has an ace up its sleeves (the Note 4 and N1 have huge batteries, the 6X dual cameras and so on), and this is where the Moto G5 Plus lags – it does a lot of things very well but nothing really jumps out at you as being, well, specially special. The phone also faces stiff competition from the smartphone from its sister brand, the Lenovo Z2 Plus which comes with a hell of a spec sheet in the same price point. But then, just go back to what we said at the beginning:

Moto G5 Plus Camera Review: Say Cheese to Simple and Steady!
Source: Tech PP English
Yes, we do think this is the best camera we have seen so far on any Moto G phone. And it is good enough to be one of the strong points of the phone, especially among those who do not like crowded interfaces and believe in hardcore point and shooting. That said, we think that those who were expecting picture quality that would be close to that of the Galaxy S7, the Pixel and OnePlus 3T, will be disappointed. The Moto G5 Plus is a steady, simple point and shooter, and takes its place alongside the likes of the dual camera Honor 6X in being the benchmark for photographic quality in the sub-Rs 20,000 (and in the case of its lower priced edition, sub-Rs.15,000) price range. If your needs are as simple as pointing, saying cheese and shooting, this is one of the better cameras at its price point!

The Moto G5 Plus is a really interesting prospect. When once the mid-range market was awash with so-so phones, this near-£250 device sets out a strong stall of specs and style, in a category where many of the previous front runners are now up and away at the £400 price point.

Lenovo Moto G5S

The Motorola Moto G5S is Moto’s another stab at the budget smartphones ball game. The Moto G5S seeks to learn from all the mistakes of its predecessor, with a bigger battery life and a better camera. For Lenovo, Moto G devices are more about providing value for money rather than promising top-notch specifications at dirt cheap prices. In terms of design, these models have been functional but not always the most attractive. The fifth-generation Moto G models finally introduced metal rear panels, and now the special editions take this to the next level. The Moto G5S has an all-metal body with a nice finish, which is a huge improvement from the polycarbonate used on the previous models. Recent Moto devices have all had a similar design language which isn't a bad thing. It has become easy to recognize Moto-branded devices in a crowd. The Moto G5S has a fingerprint reader at the front which works flawlessly. There's an old-style Micro-USB port on the bottom of the phone, along with a speaker grille and microphone. The rear panel has raised circular bumps for camera and flash, and the iconic batwing Moto logo. The antenna bands are still pretty visible. The Moto G5S feels more ergonomic and is better suited to one-handed usage. At 157 grams, it feels light for a metal-bodied phone. The Moto G5S features a 5.2-inch Full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The screen on the Moto G5S was good enough for daily use with decent brightness. It has good viewing angles too. The Moto G5S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC clocked up to 1.4 GHz, coupled with 4 GB of RAM. As for the camera, it sports a 16-megapixel sensor with PDAF, a f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash. On the front, there's a 5-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture, wide-angle lens, and an LED flash. The Moto G5S has 32 GB of storage, which is expandable using a microSD card (up to 128 GB). Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi (dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The smartphone runs on a 3000 mAh battery and has a TurboPower charger. It weighs 157 grams and measures 150 x 73.5 x 8.2 mm. As for operating system, the Moto G5S run on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, which is not the latest available version for Android devices. However, similar to other Moto devices, the Moto G5S has software enhancements from Motorola. There are Android 7.1 goodies like the ability to perform quick actions by long-pressing the icons of supported apps. There is also split-screen multitasking. The Moto G5S offers a near-stock Android experience with some very minor tweaks from Motorola such as Moto Actions and Moto Display. The G5s is a serious contender to the Chinese mid-range budget phones in the market. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

Motorola Moto G5S Review
Source: Yugatech English
The Motorola G5S is a decent smartphone with a premium build and capable specs for its class. However, it’s lacking in multiple aspects and felt like Motorola just stripped down the G5S Plus so they can introduce something at a lower price point. It would have been a worthy offering if it launched in early 2017, but in today’s standards, it doesn’t have enough fire-power to take on the competition.

Motorola Moto G5S review: No-frills mobile imaging
Source: DxOMark English
At an overall score of 69 points, the Motorola Moto G5S is battling for position in our ranking with other mid-range devices such as the Lava Z25 and the Meizu Pro 7 Plus. This said, it even just beats a high-end phone, the Nokia 8, despite lacking a bokeh mode. Unsurprisingly for a device at its price point, it doesn’t come with any smart zoom features, but the G5S is capable of capturing images with good exposure and pleasant colors in good light conditions, and offers an accurate autofocus system in still image mode. The autofocus is less reliable in video mode, but still, at a fraction of the price of current high-end models, the Moto G5S packs a decent camera into an attractive aluminum housing, making it an interesting proposition for budget-conscious mobile photographers.

If you want a mid-range phone with a mid-sized screen, the G5S is a great choice. You do pay quite a bit more than the base model G5, but with that you get a better camera, bigger battery and a slightly larger screen. While performance is nigh-on identical, these extras certainly make it worth considering.

The Moto G series has been known to provide a great experience in smartphones at a pocket-friendly price and at Rs 15,999, the Moto G5s Plus continues the tradition. Yes, people have questioned its specs (especially with the emergence of the likes of Xiaomi) but the company has the happy knack of doing more than enough to retain its faithful. And from our experience, the G5s Plus does that as well – it will not blow you away with spectacular specs but it’s smooth performance and distinct looks will grow on you.

80% Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S Review
Source: NDTV Gadgets English
The smartphone market in India changes rapidly, and Lenovo's decision to launch special editions of the fifth-generation Moto devices seems like a great move - except for buyers of the originals. Both the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus offer enhancements that help the company stay fresh and take on recently launched competitors. The dual cameras on the Moto G5S Plus will be a good selling point, especially against the Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review), though the experience still requires some polishing from the company's end. Stock Android is generally always a good thing though it's becoming more common now and less of an advantage for Lenovo. Fast charging support is also a big plus.

Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S First Impressions
Source: NDTV Gadgets English
The Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S impressed us with their snappy performance in the limited time. Touch inputs and multitasking work well. Cameras on the Moto G5S Plus do seem an upgrade compared to the Moto G5 Plus, in some departments. The depth effect worked smoothly in some samples we clicked. We will, however, reserve our verdict on the Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S performances and cameras until we get a chance to put them through pace during our detailed review.

Moto G5s vs Moto G5s Plus
Source: PC Advisor English
With only a small difference in its overall size the more powerful Moto G5s Plus with dual-cameras is likely to be the better buy here. However, when you're buying in the budget market price is everything, and the £40 difference could be enough to tip the balance in the favour of the Moto G5s. The smaller model also has the potential to offer longer battery life, but we'll have to wait and see when we get them into our Test Centre.

Lenovo Moto G5s Plus

While the Lenovo Moto G5 Plus was launched a few months ago without much fanfare, Motorola did not seem satisfied with it. Hence, they have decided to launch an update touted as the Lenovo Moto G5s Plus to address the previous shortcomings. One of the few is its chassis, which was originally all plastic last time around. This time, the Moto G5s Plus is made of a full aluminum assembly, which should help it feel less cheap and a bit more premium. The Moto G5s Plus is different from its predecessor: It is much larger at 5.5-inch. This is a reasonable size for users who tends to use their smartphones as media consumption devices. As for the hardware, the Moto G5s Plus is now equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. This is about on par with most mid-tier devices of this class. For its given price bracket, the Moto G5s Plus features a FHD IPS based display. Although it is not an OLED display, it delivers a vivid and vibrant viewing experience. However, the brightness is slightly lower than expected. One thing to be happy about the display is that while most affordable phones suffer from being too dim in bright settings this is not the case for the Moto G5s Plus. It remains legible even under the sun. There are also a few extra features that Motorola has included such as a custom night mode, which allows you to change the display's color temperature at night, which makes using the phone at night more comfortable. In terms of software the Moto G5s Plus comes preloaded with Android Nougat 7.1.1 with confirmation of an update to Android Oreo 8.0. Because the Moto series uses a mostly stock Android you can be rest assured that the phone isn’t riddled with bloatware, which can help with battery life or even quality of life experiences. Next on to the camera department the Moto G5s Plus has now received an upgrade of a dual rear 13 MP camera setup with an aperture of f/2.0. While most dual camera setups are for better zooming, this is not the case for the Moto G5s Plus. Its dual camera setup is mainly used for background blurring, which is a bit odd since the whole purpose of a dual camera setup is meant for that. One major gripe of the camera is its processing speed, which is a bit long. However, the results are great since it produces a DSLR like effect. Generally, the image quality remains substantial thanks to an auto HDR mode, which allows you to shoot in any conditions without compromises. However, night shots suffer in the detail department. Battery capacity might not be everything these days. Nevertheless, the 3.000 mAh battery and the mid-tier chipset ensure that the Moto G5s Plus generally lasts 5,5 hours while gaming. This means users can expect to see a day’s worth of moderate usage. If you came here hoping for USB type C, you will be sorely disappointed. However, despite using a microUSB port the Moto G5s Plus supports Quick Charging, which is good. On the one hand, the G5s Plus has seen a major improvement, but on the other hand there are some minor issues with the camera in terms of processing speed. Otherwise the Moto G5s Plus remains a serviceable phone. Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

80% Moto G5S Plus review: one of the best budget Android smartphones you can buy
Source: T3 English
The Moto G5S Plus is superb value for money. It delivers serious bang for not many bucks. Don’t pay the RRP: the Moto G5S Plus is widely available at discounted prices, which makes it superb value for money and a better bet than the similarly named but less premium-feeling G5 Plus. It’s not one for the spec sheet willy wavers but it delivers solid performance and a decent screen. Our only real niggle is the laggy camera. The Honor 9 may be slightly better, especially for games, but it’s also a lot more expensive.

Motorola Moto G5S Plus review - A decent mid-range smartphone with a strong battery pack and affordable pricing
Source: Tech Nave English
At this stage, there are just too many mid-range smartphones are using the same tactic of equipping a dual rear camera, nice design look and priced at around RM1K more or less. For the Moto G5S Plus, the price tag of RM999 (below RM800 in our recent price listings) is definitely an attractive one, but there are some tiny issues on the camera performance. If you look past that, it's a fairly decent phone with good gaming capabilities, strong battery pack, useful user interface and motion sensors, the fun Depth mode function and comes in pure stock Android. But is it enough, though?

Sure, you can spend a little more on a phone like the Moto X4, or spend a lot less on a Moto E4-series handset, but this model still represents the sort of middle-of-the-road compromise that will likely resonate with a lot of shoppers.

But back to our reviewee - the Moto G5S Plus. We would have liked to get a bit more out of the camera - for example, the Moto X4 takes similarly underwhelming portraits as this Moto G5S Plus, but the X4 at least has the ultra-wide camera to make up for it.

The Moto G5S Plus is not only the best Moto G phone ever, it’s the best phone under £300 you can buy today. Yes, it is slightly more expensive than the G5 or the Nokia 5, but what you gain in build quality, photography and performance are well worth the extra spend.

Motorola Moto G5S Plus Review
Source: Yugatech English
The Moto G5S Plus is a solid mid-ranger with a good display, capable processor, large RAM, dual rear cameras, good battery life, and doesn’t ask much at Php14,999. It would have been a stand out if it was released in Q1 or Q2 of 2017. Right now, it’s a tough choice as there are new devices that offer better hardware and design for the same price. To conclude, the G5S Plus is a good phone but it’s going to take more than that if it wants to make a dent on the competition.

70% Motorola Moto G5S Plus review: Dual rear cameras are here, but do they deliver?
Source: The Indian Express English
Motorola’s Moto G5S Plus joins the growing list of mid-range, budget phones trying to offer dual-rear cameras. The design and display might not have changed, but there are two cameras at the back for those who want portrait style shots. As a general package, Moto G5S Plus has positives like a smooth performance, long battery life. But the USP which is the dual-rear camera is far from perfect. For now, I would say Moto G5S Plus is another option to add to this list and needs to offer more on this front to really stand out.

At $279, you’re getting a phone that’s 90% as capable as devices that cost three times as much. It’s got plenty of internal storage, RAM, and a processor that’s going to be just fine for the next several years, and it’s compatible with all major networks in the US. On top of that, Lenovo is running an early adopter discount that brings the cost down to just $229, seriously undercutting even cheap competition from the likes of OnePlus.

How do you improve an already great smartphone? Well according to Motorola, you add dual cameras and a whole lot of metal. The Moto G5 Plus was already a great smartphone. And the Moto G5S Plus improves upon the same. The Moto G5S Plus comes across as a pretty great smartphone - it has butter smooth software, a premium all metal design, a vivid display, a great primary camera for the price, solid battery life and powerful internals. The only chink in the phone's armour is the sub-par dual camera-implementation and the irritating shutter lag.

Moto G5S Plus Review
Source: Fone Arena English
Overall, the Moto G5S Plus is a decent upgrade to the G5 Plus and the company has priced it at Rs. 15999 and sticks to single 4GB + 64GB version. The phone ticks several right boxes in the price range when it comes to screen, performance, build quality and the phone also offers a decent battery life considering it has a 3000mAh battery. Of course the company could have gone for a bigger battery, but moving from dedicated SIM and microSD slots to hybrid slot is not a good move.

Overall, the Moto G5S Plus is a good option for the users looking to buy a stock Android smartphone under 18K. The depth mode editor still needs improvement as it is still in beta mode. The phone has a good build quality and offers a good grip with a premium feel. The display and Moto Actions on the phone are something a Motorola fan will be excited about.

Moto G5S Plus comes with its own set of pros and cons, but the positives of the device definitely outweigh the negatives. It has an elegant design, a good build quality and a reasonable display. Performance wise, it runs smoothly and has an excellent fingerprint sensor. The cameras and the sound output could have been better. A disappointing aspect was that the heating up of the device while using certain apps.

Lenovo: Lenovo ( "Le" as in the English word legend and "novo" (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. From 2004, the company has been the largest laptop manufacturer in China and got the fourth largest manufacturer worldwide after the acquisition of IBM's PC division in 2005. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company also produces monitors, projectors, servers, etc.

In 2011, Lenovo acquired the majority of Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Lenovo took over Motorola Mobility, which gave them a boost in the smartphone market.

From 2014 to 2016 Lenovo's market share in the global notebook market was 20-21%, ranking second behind HP. However, the distance decreased gradually. In the smartphone market, Lenovo did not belong to the Top 5 global manufacturers in 2016.
