The Legion Y730 just doesn’t feel right as a gaming machine even considering when it entered the market. The model we’ve tested is too expensive (today) and flashy to only pack a GTX 1050 Ti. There’s little reason to have a gaming computer that looks better than the games it’s running.

Lenovo steps up the build quality and game-oriented features for the Legion Y730 while keeping its price reasonable for an entry-level gaming laptop. If graphics performance is your priority, though, you'll want to keep looking.

The Lenovo Legion Y730 is one of the most tastefully-designed gaming notebooks around. Its simple, minimalist design makes it suitable for use in the office, but its RGB backlit keyboard ensures it retains that extra bit of flair that gamers want. In addition, the slim bezels framing its display help ensure a sleeker look and more immersive experience.

This brand new version of the Legion laptop brings it into a whole new light, one that we appreciate here much more than the extreme gamer aesthetic of old. Throw in some serious innards and a decent price, and color us psyched for a full review.

The Legion Y730 is the higher-end alternative to the Legion Y530 and legion Y7000 with flagship-like features including per-key RGB lighting, Thunderbolt 3, and dedicated Macro keys. It's just too bad that current SKUs are limited to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

If you are here because of your love for Lenovo Legion Y530 and you wanted to see how one of the best budget gaming notebooks is taken to another level, you might just get a little disappointed. Well, don’t get us wrong, Legion Y730 is still an improvement over the cheaper version. Nonetheless, it is not near the improvement of the Legion Y720 over the Y520 from last year.
