Although it took a while for it to arrive, the Android 7.0 firmware update is finally rolling out to LG G5 owners on AT&T. In addition to the usual changes, the new software also includes Google's January security patches.

Android Nougat became available for the LG G5 flagships in late 2016, so AT&T spent a lot of time before releasing the new software to ensure everything works as intended on these handsets on its network. Now, the wait is finally over and LG G5 users on AT&T who did not receive the update notification yet might want to do a manual check.

According to Android Police's sources, the update has about 1.5 GB in size and carries build number NRD90U. Although it is only based on Android 7.0 Nougat, it comes with the security patches dated January 1, 2017. In addition to the usual minor tweaks and fixes, all the noticeable Nougat changes are present as well - improved Doze mode, split-screen apps, enhanced notifications, customizable Quick Settings, quick app switching, and more.

If the result of the manual check is negative, those anxious to get the update as soon as possible need to wait until the next day. AT&T requires WiFi connectivity to download updates and limits the number of checks to one per day.
