LG G-Slate to see an International release

Teaser
Official release date to be revealed at Mobile World Conference in Barcelona

LG has confirmed in a Korean press release that the G-Slate will be making an appearance this month on the 14th at the Mobile World Conference and will indeed be planning to release the tablet for international markets. LG has decided to rename the G-Slate to the Optimus Pad for the international version, a common practice done by the company as seen on many of their worldwide smartphone releases. In addition, a more pinpoint launch date is expected to be announced rather than the general “spring release” for the United States.

Specifications of the G-Slate were published by LG earlier this week, but additional information has since been revealed. The tablet will be running the recently demonstrated Android 3.0 and will feature a longer-lasting battery pack compared to the iPad. However, Vision2Mobile predicts that the International version will likely lack the 4G capabilities of the U.S. G-Slate due to lower support for the high-speed bandwidth in Europe.

More info on the G-Slate and Optimus Pad, including any additional differences, will be expected next week at the MWC in Spain.
