The 2.5-inch HyperX drives from Kingston are now available throughout various online retailers. The SSD series was introduced back at Computex during early June.
The SATA 3.0 HyperX drives are targeted towards enthusiast users, meaning that their performance levels are most useful to power users and gamers. Each drive includes a SandForce SF-2281 controller with sequential read/write speeds of about 555MB/sec and 510MB/sec, respectively. See the official datasheet here for more technical information about the HyperX SSDs.
Certain online retailers stocking the HyperX SSDs are also shipping the drive with a 3.5-inch desktop mount, while others are bundling the drive with screws, software, cables and external drive bays. Currently, the HyperX series offers two capacities, 120GB and 240GB. The 120GB model is available for $269, while Amazon is holding the 240GB model for $577. Each model includes Kingston’s three year warranty.
