Kindle Fire 2 may get its chassis from Catcher Technology
It has been just a few months since the Kindle Fire was first released and it now looks like Amazon is on its way to roll out the next generation Kindle Fire in just a few months time. According to DigiTimes, Taiwan based chassis manufacturer, Catcher Technology has recently received orders from Amazon for a new Kindle Fire. The sources also speculate that Catcher Technology will produce the chassis in its plants in Taizhou, China and supply it to Amazon with estimated gross margins above 40%. According to the report, the upstream supplier is also estimated to increase its number of CNC machines to 15, 000 to boost capacity and satisfy the strong demand from the tablet PC industry.
There have been many rumors of a new Kindle Fire recently. Some of them even suggest that there will be two new Kindle Fire tablets coming out this year; one - A larger, 9-inch model to directly compete with the iPad alongside an improved 7-inch model to succeed the original. However, it is hard to see how a larger, pricier version of the Kindle Fire will work out as the original Kindle Fire gained its popularity by being the bargain tablet of the year. Nevertheless, an improved second generation could certainly bring the Kindle Fire closer to the dominating percentage that the iPad holds.
