Reviews for the Infinix Zero 40 5G

Infinix’s Zero 40 5G is an impressive phone at its price point. It can hit the marks of those wanting to start out and create or just become a content consuming machine. It retails for about $400 overseas. If you can happen to score one at this price and even get it imported out any crazy fees check it out. Unless you are in a country already with this available.

The Infinix Zero 40 5G is a competent and well-made device, especially for the price. You get a good design and build quality, great display, good performance, fast charging, and a decent software experience. Other things like camera, battery life, and speakers are fine, if not spectacular. The video recording is a bit underwhelming, despite being the main focus of the device, and the software design lacks originality, but aside from that there isn't much to complain about.

The Infinix Zero 40 5G is a good choice if you're on the lookout for a mid-range phone that offers good design, a good set of cameras that you'll mostly use in the day, good gaming performance, decent battery life, and a nice big curved display with fast refresh rate. If you're looking for a phone for vlogging, this is not the one. In terms of alternatives in the same price range, you can try the Motorola Edge 50 Pro (Review), iQOO Z9s Pro (Review), or the Nothing Phone 2a Plus (Review). All of these have their own advantages and disadvantages, so we'd recommend reading the reviews before making a decision.

You might be confused with the title of the review given how I’ve mostly said nice things about the Infinix Zero 40. Well, on its own, I can’t deny that it gives you a good display, a respectable processor, and fantastic battery life. However, as you can see from my comparisons, there are phones out there that cost just as much or less while providing similar, or even better, performance. While RM1,699 is still relatively affordable, it’s RM400 more than the Zero 30. For that price difference, you’re only getting a somewhat upgraded chipset, a marginally brighter display, and wireless charging at the cost of slower wired charging. Somehow, despite being under the affordable smartphone umbrella, it still manages to be overpriced.

The Infinix Zero 40 4G and 5G have the same Mediatek chipset inside the smartphone. They have similar designs but with different colors. They even have the same bright display, camera hardware, and even the battery capacity. The only differences are in chipset, 5G, and wireless charging. The chipset in the 5G smartphone has almost double the power of the 4G model, making it significantly more powerful in gaming. This combined with the other two differences makes them worlds apart, even though they are quite similar. However, their difference isn’t substantial enough to make them both stand out. Considering everything the Infinix Zero 40 4G has, the pricing is not justified and we cannot recommend it but the pricing of the 5G model is alright.

Okay wrapping things up, the Infinix Zero 40 5G is a good overall package if you consider the price. I mean, the design is premium, the display is great with a 144Hz refresh rate and the camera is super decent if not the best! Also, XOS is feature-rich, although, I would like it a bit more refined on the UI elements side. And the other thing is, that it can work on optimizing the main camera as this phone has a capable sensor and chipset alike! The Infinix Zero 40 5G is a very good value for money phone in terms of design, display and performance. The Dimensity 8200 chip provides you strong performance for gaming and daily tasks alike. Likewise, the cameras are on the decent side, if not great while the battery life is good alongside a 45W charging and 20W wireless charging support. The haptics and UI could have been better tho'

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.79.8%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
