Rumours abound mere days ago when a Korean news outlet broke news from an industry source that the Hyundai N Vision 74 Rolling Lab concept was approved for production as an electric or hybrid-electric vehicle. Unfortunately, official sources from Hyundai have denied the claims, according to another Korean publication, WikiTree, with a Hyundai USA representative delivering confirmation of the denial to Carscoops.
Whether this is the final nail in the coffin of a production N Vision 74 is unclear, but in its stead, the Korean automotive giant will rebuild the original Pony Coupe concept with designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The original Pony Coupe concept was slated to go into production for the North American and European markets, but the model never quite made it to production.
It's not clear what form the rebuilt Pony Coupe concept will take, but Giugiaro's wording surrounding the rebuild indicates that it's more of an exercise in celebrating the brand's heritage than a look peek into the future of Hyundai's design.
At this point, it seems as though the Hyundai N Vision 74 will remain in concept land for the time being. Despite retro hints in Hyundai's modern Ioniq 5, a vehicle like the N Vision 74 might just be too much of a departure from the brand's identity at this point.
