Huawei's 15-inch Matebook gets leaked specs and renders
Huawei has been releasing quite decent Macbook / Surface competitors for a few years now with the Matebook lineup, but all the models have been limited to 14-inch screens. Meanwhile, Microsoft launched 15-inch Surface laptops and Apple just recently made the jump to 16-inch displays, so Huawei needs to step up. According to reputable leaker Evan Blass, that is exactly what Huawei is planning to do. Blass posted a few renders and specs of the upcoming Matebook series, and it looks like Huawei intends to finally offer 15-inch models.
The upcoming Matebooks might not be the slimmest models we have yet seen, but they sure come with quite the port selection. Huawei appears to have stuffed the 15-inch model with an audio out, full-size HDMI output, 3x USB-A ports and a USB-C one that is most likely compatible with the Thunderbolt 3 standard, while the 14-inch model is only one USB-A port short. Both variants feature the power button that integrates a fingerprint reader and come with thin bezel 16:9 displays. Judging by the thickness of the chassis, these models will probably be powered by Intel’s top-of-the-line Comet Lake-U processors.
These new models should make an appearance at CES or MWC in early 2020, with expected release dates towards Q2 2020.
