Since other smartphones can only release their Snapdragon 835 phones after Samsung does, the inclusion of the chipset means that HTC's flagship may hit the market later in the year than the HTC 10 did in 2016.

HTC’s mysterious 2017 flagship has appeared on Verizon’s network, according to an inside source who first leaked the story. Apparently, this phone contains Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 835 processor, the same one that Samsung called first dibs on for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 launch on April 21st. Since Samsung is using most of the first batch of Snapdragon 835s themselves, other smartphone makers have had to either push back their launch dates to a date after Samsung’s flagships launch or settle for a less powerful SoC.

This news comes only a day after screenshots of the specs of a false “HTC 11” device leaked online and were quickly debunked by knowledgeable users, so this latest leak will likely face increased scrutiny. This time, there are no screenshots, just the word of an unnamed source.

Unlike the strange contents of the last leak, what this leak about the Snapdragon 835 suggests that HTC’s upcoming phone is in line with expectations; HTC’s next flagship is said to feature the aforementioned Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, dual-cameras and a fingerprint sensor on the rear. As for whether the phone will be U-branded like the HTC U Ultra or continue the line of One phones, no one is certain.
