After countless leaks and rumors, the squeezable smartphone by HTC is finally official. Previously known as HTC U Ocean, this handset hits the market as HTC U11. Surprising enough, especially since it does not have a dual-camera setup, this new smartphone has just become the highest-rated handset on DxOMark.
HTC U11 is powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The official press release highlights the following advanced features:
- HTC Edge Sense - squeeze actions, a whole new way to interact with a phone
- HTC USonic - Active Noise Cancellation headset
- Liquid Surface design
- HTC Sense Companion, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa
In addition to the processor mentioned earlier, the list of specs also includes 4 GB RAM or 6 GB RAM, 64 GB or 128 GB internal storage, a 5.5-inch touchscreen with 1,440X2,560 pixels protected using Corning Gorilla Glass 5, all powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The handset runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, but with HTC's Sense UI on top.
The unlocked version in blue, black, and silver is available for presale on Amazon or HTC.com for $649 USD (4 GB/64 GB variant). Sprint customers can get it for 24 monthly payments of $29 USD each, next to the Unlimited Freedom package that costs $50 USD a month and offers unlimited talk, text, and data for the first line, as well as 10 GB mobile hotspot data monthly, plus video streaming in HD.
