The HTC Hero phone reportedly still slated for a Q4 2015 release.

The original HTC Hero is one of the first smartphones to run on Sense UI. HTC CEO Cher Wang announced a true successor to the phone last month at an annual shareholders meeting. According to Wang, this new Hero will launch sometime in October, though no further details were announced.

HTC have traditionally launched new devices within an October time frame. "Aero" is also the rumored internal codename for the device. This "Aero" model could sport a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC and have a QHD display.

The Hero is expected to be HTC's new flagship to complement the existing HTC One M9 and One M9+. The manufacturer reported poor profit earnings on April of this year where sales slumped by almost 40 percent. Thus, there is pressure on the new Hero smartphone to perform well around the world.
