The HP Pavilion 15-au111nt is a multimedia device from HP’s Pavilion 15 series. It comes with an Intel Core i5-7200U processor and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU. In addition, it is equipped with 8 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB SSDD with 8 GB flash memory. These components make it possible to have a fast boot time, especially the 8 GB flash memory. Online reviews indicate that opening times are around 7-8 seconds. The device features a DVD-RW drive, but depending on your use, its necessity of it questionable. If you are not willing to play games that are demanding, the Nvidia GeForce 940MX can have you covered. Regular MOBA games like League of Legends, Dota 2 and similar can be played well with this graphics card. Even if you want to play GTA 5, you can! With middle or lower settings, you can have a fluent game play. When tested with CS-GO at highest resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, you will get around 60 fps with lowest settings. If you lower the resolution, the frame rate goes up to 100 fps. This means that if you are looking for a device where you can play demanding games, you need to look for other models. This device is for daily multimedia purposes and for occasional gaming. Design wise, it can not be said that it is the best of its class, but it looks nice, yet maybe not too appealing to the eye. The backlit keyboard is easy to get used to. Illumination of the keyboard is bright enough and makes use in the night easy. The highlight of the device is its speakers.The B&O speakers supported by HP Audio Boost deliver a good sound. The screen has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The sRBG coverage is good, nothing much to criticize around here. In terms of connectivity there is one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.1 port, an RJ-45 port, an HDMI output, and regular audio ports. In short, nothing much besides regular connectivity options. The WiFi card supports b/g/n, which is not that great in terms of transfer rates. Most of the modern devices support ac. The device comes with a 41 Wh Lithium-Ion battery, which provides around 5-6 hours of WiFi runtime and 3-4 hours of multimedia (watching videos, streaming) and less while playing games. At a size of 38,3 x 24,3 x 2,25 cm, it is neither bulky nor thin. Overall, the HP Pavilion 15-au111nt is a good all-rounder. If you are not looking to buy a performance monster, but still want to be able to play some games and watching videos, doing some photo edits is what you need, the HP Pavilion 15-au111nt is what you are looking for. If you spend a bit extra and get a full SSD instead of HDD, you can get an even faster system. On the other hand, there are other models from the Asus X550 or Acer Aspire E5 series within this price range, which provide faster CPUs or already have SSD built-in. NVIDIA GeForce 940MX: Mid-range laptop graphics card based on the Maxwell architecture. Compared to the older 940M, the MX now also supports GDDR5 graphics memory and maybe slightly faster clock speeds.
