It may be a bit slow, but the CQ58 will get you online for several hours at a time, and let you run Microsoft Office for less than £250.00. We'd recommend stepping up to the 4GB model if you can afford it, but the CQ58 definitely represents good value for money if you're on a really tight budget.

It is just so hard to find anything that is really worthy of purchasing a Compaq Presario CQ58-a10NR. With its $400 price tag, the limited performance and features just don't stack up to just about any other laptop in this price range. Sure, it may have AMD Radeon Graphics which best Intel's options but even AMD A series laptops at this price point have better performance and more features.

Not up to date. With the Compaq Presario CQ58-350sg Hewlett Packard offers a cost-effective notebook containing an AMD E1-1200 APU. The AMD APU is not one of the most powerful representatives of its kind, but scores with low energy consumption. Theoretically, HP should have an enduring office laptop in its repertoire. Our test will show if this assumption holds up.

HP: Founded in 1939, the US company is a major server and printer manufacturer and one of the leading IT companies in the world. Until 2015, the company was called Hewlett-Packard Company. After a split, the computer division was renamed HP Inc.
In 2023, HP had an approximate market share of 22% of global PC sales, making it number 2 after Lenovo.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
Intel HD Graphics (Sandy Bridge): Processor graphics card which is integrated in the Sandy Bridge Pentium and Celeron processors. Similar to the desktop HD Graphics 2000 and not related to the old Arrandale processor graphics with the same name.
AMD Radeon HD 7310: Integrated processor graphics card in the Zacate netbook APUs of the 2nd generation (e.g., E1-1200) with an integrated UVD3 video decoder.Technically just a renamed Radeon HD 6310 (1. generation Zacate).
Intel HD Graphics (Ivy Bridge): In the mobile Ivy Bridge Celeron and Pentium CPUs integrated processor graphics card. The HD Graphics is the slower, GT1 called, part with less execution units (EUs) and only one texture sampler - compared to the GT2 HD Graphics 4000.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.

Intel Pentium:
B950:
Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. Due to the Pentium brand, many features of the Sandy Bridge core are deactivated.
AMD E-Series:
E1-1200: A slow dual-core processor with low power consumption and an integrated HD 7310 GPU.
Intel Celeron:
1000M: Entry level 1.8 GHz dual core processor with integrated graphics card called Intel HD Graphics and reduced features of the Ivy Bridge core (no Turbo Boost, AES, ...).
Intel Core i3:
3110M: Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, 2.4 GHz core clock (no turbo), includes HD 4000 GPU

15.00:
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

65.2%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
