Google has announced the list of Android smartwatches devices that will be receiving an update to Android Oreo. Although not a major feature upgrade, the new version of Android Wear moves the system base code from Android Nougat 7.1.1 to Android Oreo 8.0.0.  Just a handful of new features will be in tow, including vibration strength settings, touch to lock and support for additional countries and languages.

The Android Wear Oreo update is currently available for these devices:

  • Fossil Q Venture
  • LG Watch Sport
  • Louis Vuitton Tambour
  • Michael Kors Sofie
  • Montblanc Summit

The following devices are set to receive the update to Oreo, although the timeframes haven’t been advised:

  • Casio PRO TREK Smart WSD-F20
  • Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch
  • Diesel Full Guard
  • Emporio Armani Connected
  • Fossil Q Control
  • Fossil Q Explorist
  • Fossil Q Founder 2.0
  • Fossil Q Marshal
  • Fossil Q Wander
  • Gc Connect
  • Guess Connect
  • Huawei Watch 2
  • Hugo BOSS BOSS Touch
  • LG Watch Style
  • Michael Kors Access Bradshaw
  • Michael Kors Access Dylan
  • Michael Kors Access Grayson
  • MIsfit Vapor
  • Mobvoi Ticwatch S & E
  • Movado Connect
  • Nixon Mission
  • Polar M600
  • TAG Heuer Tag Connected Modular 45
  • Tommy Hilfiger 24/7 You

Users are advised to contact their device manufacturer for specific release dates. While the vibration strength setting is some we are looking forward to, the update will not move the Android Wear version beyond the current status of 2.6.0.

I have been writing about consumer technology over the past ten years, previously with the former MacNN and Electronista, and now Notebookcheck since 2017. My first computer was an Apple ][c and this sparked a passion for Apple, but also technology in general. In the past decade, I’ve become increasingly platform agnostic and love to get my hands on and explore as much technology as I can get my hand on. Whether it is Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation, each has plenty to offer and has given me great joy exploring them all. I was drawn to writing about tech because I love learning about the latest devices and also sharing whatever insights my experience can bring to the site and its readership.
