Gboard 6.9 will bring smart replies, GIF making, media keyboard features
Although Android was around and very popular already back then, Google had decided to launch Gboard only on iOS back in May 2016. However, Google Android always had the Keyboard app onboard, so Gboard eventually arrived as a major update to it. This happened back in December 2016, and now this virtual keyboard app is ready to bring a few new features to its Android users.
According to an APK teardown by 9to5Google, Gboard 6.9 will bring the following new features:
- Smart Reply for notifications, similar to the feature found in Google apps like Gmail, Allo, or Inbox
- Make a GIF
- Universal Media Keyboard that can quickly retrieve media content, probably by browsing what is stored inside the phone, but could go online as well
- Improved Bitmoji integration
In addition to the above, the app will also include a "What's new in Gboard?" notification message in the suggestions row. The Gboard app is insanely popular in the Play store, with more than 500 million downloads and a rating of 4.2 stars after over 1.6 million users reviewed this piece of code. Unfortunately, we have no information on the launch date of the 6.9 version of this virtual keyboard, but since the beta version has been around for a while, that day should come soon.
