Deal | Garmin Fenix 8 smartwatch has never been cheaper on Amazon

Garmin’s premium outdoor watches rarely move into mainstream smartwatch pricing territory, but the current Amazon discount on the Fenix 8 makes the company’s current flagship wearable a little easier to justify. The deal applies to the 47mm AMOLED version in Slate Gray with a Black Band, which is now selling for $749 instead of its usual $999 list price.
That works out to a $250 discount or 25% off, which makes the base model a notable option for buyers who would otherwise look for the older Fenix 7 or the stripped-down Fenix E. According to Camelcamelcamel, the current Amazon price is the lowest it has tracked for the 47mm Garmin Fenix 8.
Fenix 8 deal for users who don't need the Pro model
This latest discount is worth separating from a recent Fenix 8 Pro deal, which we reported on. For instance, the Fenix 8 does not include the Pro model’s inReach-based LTE connectivity. That means it is not meant for users who want phone-free messaging.
For many users and athletes, that may not be a major loss. The regular Fenix 8 still covers the core Garmin flagship experience, including a nice 1.4-inch AMOLED display, a rugged 47mm case, workout tracking, navigation and the usual health features. It also has a built-in speaker and microphone, so taking phone calls is possible when the watch is paired with a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth.
Battery life arguably remains one of the main reasons to pick a Garmin over a more conventional smartwatch like the Apple Watch Ultra. Garmin advertises up to 16 days for the 47mm Fenix 8 AMOLED in smartwatch mode, although that drops to up to 7 days when the always-on display is enabled. GPS runtimes will vary, but the watch should still last multiple days in that case.
At a marked-down Amazon price of $749, the Garmin Fenix 8 is still an expensive watch, especially for users who mainly want notifications, casual fitness tracking and basic smartwatch features. The deal is probably more relevant for runners, cyclists, hikers, swimmers and outdoor fans who prefer Garmin’s platform.
