Korean media sources have reported that Samsung's newest flagship smartphone has already sold twenty million units. The sales figures show that the Galaxy S4 has reached the milestone 1.7 times faster than the GS3 did back in its day. Encouraged by the figures, the South Korean company is aiming to break the 60 million record set by the S3, with the current goal being 100 million sales.
The GS4 is arguably the best Android phone on the market today along with the HTC One. Though the Samsung smartphone is the clear winner in terms of popularity and was actually the highest selling smartphone in the world in Q2 of this year. Both of these products have also benefited from recent Google Edition launches which should further bolster their figures.
Given that the GS4 may have also been timed to take advantage of the lack of a new iPhone in recent months, it will be interesting to see if their sales are affected when Apple launches its new model this fall.
Samsung are scheduled to announce their earnings later this week and are likely to elaborate more on their sales achievements then.
