Fairphone 6 Plus arrives with upgraded specs, higher price tag, and US debut

A little over a year after the launch of the Fairphone 6, a.k.a. Fairphone (Gen. 6), the Amsterdam-based smartphone brand has announced a successor in the form of the Fairphone 6 Plus a.k.a. Fairphone (Gen. 6+). The new phone comes with improved specs and new software features. It is also the first Fairphone smartphone that will be officially sold in the US.
Fairphone 6 Plus specs - new processor and more RAM
The Fairphone 6 Plus has a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2484 × 1116 resolution. It also has a peak brightness of 1400 nits, HDR10 support, support for wet fingers and glove mode, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. These are the same display features of the Fairphone 6.
The Fairphone 6 Plus starts to differ from its sibling with its processor, which is the newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It also has 12GB of RAM, 4GB more than that of the previous model. This is a welcome upgrade considering bigger brands such as Google cut down the RAM on the base configuration of the Pixel 11 Pro (available on Amazon for $1099). Fairphone says the newer processor and additional RAM should result in a 24% increase in app loading and switching speeds.
Just like the Fairphone 6, there's only one storage configuration and it has 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Thankfully there's a microSD card slot for adding up to an additional 2TB of storage. For the cameras, the Fairphone 6 Plus has a 32MP front-facing camera with EIS, while the rear is home to a 50MP/f.188 Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide angle camera with a 120° FOV and EIS.
The rest of the specs remain unchanged too. So you get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support (1x nano and 1x eSIM), NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo speakers, IP55 dust and water resistance, and a removable 4,415mAh battery with support for 30W fast wired charging. The phone ships with Android 16 and will receive six major Android updates.
The new Android version brings new features such as a Fairphone Gallery and updated Fairphone Moments. The latter now includes new wallpapers, a blue filter mode, new Switch button functions, and more. Fairphone says these new software features will be made available for the Fairphone 6. The Fairphone 6 Plus retains the 5-year warranty of the previous model as well as its sustainable, modular, and repairable design. Users will also be able to replace up to 12 parts themselves.
Fairphone 6 Plus - price and availability
The Fairphone 6 Plus is available to buy now for €649, €50 more than the Fairphone 6, while the /e/OS version is priced at €699. It is also available in the US for $649.99 on the dedicated official US website.
The new phone comes in Horizon Black and Forest Green like the Fairphone 6, but ditches the Cloud White color for a gorgeous Cobalt Blue colorway. Accessories such as the card holder, finger loop, and protective cover are available in the new Cobalt Blue color, too.
