Electric Porsche 718 Boxster appears in a gorgeous render image
It’s a well-known fact that the entire automotive industry is right in the midst of a more or less radical transition to electromobility, which puts the development and further production of traditional internal combustion engines into question. Evidently, this also has an impact on luxurious vehicles made by reputable German automakers like Porsche, whose smallest sports car, the Porsche 718, is set to be electrified in 2025.
Accordingly, Motor1 has now created a beautiful unofficial render picture that shows the possible design of the electric model variant of the Porsche 718 Boxster in all its glory. The image in question can be accessed via this link. The electric sports car from Zuffenhausen, which is imagined in an eye-catching yellow paint job, looks quite a bit more aggressive than the rather tame Porsche 718 Boxster GTS. Among other changes, the electric Porsche 718 Boxster features more angular headlights, striking air intakes on the side and a completely redesigned front bumper, which were apparently modeled after the Porsche 'Mission R' concept car from last year’s IAA.
Supposedly, the electric Porsche 718 Boxster will largely retain its mid-engine layout as it will be built on the EV platform called PPE, which is also employed by Porsche's sister company Audi. Its battery will be placed between the axles in order to ensure a low center of gravity, which should also pay dividends in terms of handling. Prospective buyers who are not keen on open-hearted convertibles may prefer the electric successor to the Porsche 718 Cayman, which could be even more closely related to the ultra-sleek“Mission R” concept car.
