The CrowPi2 is a kit for the Raspberry Pi that transforms the popular single-board computer (SBC) into a laptop. The device, which is compatible with several operating systems and the STEAM Education platform, is now orderable worldwide, too.

Last year, Elecrow introduced the CrowPi2, a successor to the CrowPi, a computer science kit that utilised a Raspberry Pi. Initially, Elecrow sold the CrowPi2 through Kickstarter, but the company has now started selling the kit on its website.

The CrowPi2 is also compatible with the Raspberry Pi Model 3B, Model 3B+, though. The CrowPi2 itself measures 291 x 190 x 46 mm and features an 11.6-inch IPS that resolves at 1,920 x 1080 pixels. Elecrow has included a 2.0 MP webcam, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and dual speakers, too. A Raspberry Pi connects via a maintenance flap, providing easy upgrades to future boards.

The CrowPi2 supports Windows 10 IoT and numerous Linux distributions at a software level, including CentOS, Raspbian, RetroPie and Ubuntu. The kit is also compatible with the STEAM education platform, thanks to its numerous removable parts.

Currently, the CrowPi2 starts at US$299.00, although this does not include a Raspberry Pi. However, Elecrow also sells Advanced and Deluxe kits should you need a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, too. The company offers the choice between American and German keyboards and AU, EU, UK, or US plugs.
