Bose unveiled the QuietComfort Ultra over-the-head earphones as an answer to market behemoths such as the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Apple AirPods Max. At US$429, it is not cheap, but the price tag is justified by the laundry list of features it offers. It has received its first price cut since it was launched in September this year.
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra can be purchased via Amazon and Best Buy for just US$379, US$50 lower than its launch price. While it isn't significant, this will be as good as it gets, at least until more time passes. Some of its salient features include support for Bluetooth 5.3, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and a 24-hour battery life.
Interestingly, its main competitor, the Sony WH-1000XM5, has also received an 18% discount on Amazon and Best Buy, bringing its price down to US$329. It isn't nearly as feature-rich as the QuietComfort Ultra but it has its advantages, such as up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge.
The experts over RTings have determined that the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and Sony WH-1000XM5 have their own distinct advantages. While Sony has better noise cancellation, Bose's headphones are far more comfortable, making them ideal for extended use.
