When HTC revealed the Flyer a couple months back, there was no word on when the device would come stateside. Now that CTIA 2011 has passed, we have learned that the Flyer will appear in the U.S. as a 4G enabled tablet for Sprint, called the HTC Evo View. As for the Wi-Fi only model, Best Buy will be the exclusive seller of the new tablet beginning this spring.
"Over the past few months we've seen several new tablets enter the market, and we're especially excited to partner with HTC to bring the Wi-Fi version of the HTC Flyer to our customers as a national retail launch exclusive," a Best Buy spokesperson said. Unfortunately, the retail price of the tablet is still unknown. HTC will have to price the Wi-Fi only Flyer quite competitively if it wishes to stand a chance against Apple and other upcoming heavyweights such as HP, Acer, and RIM.
The 7-inch HTC Flyer will sport a 1024x600 resolution TFT display, 1.5GHz single-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB RAM, and run Android Gingerbread with Flash support and possible OnLive connectivity.
