According to the first impressions of a couple of car reviewers, the all-electric BMW i7 sedan is an incredibly luxurious and comfortable EV with some high-tech features, but unfortunately, the car also comes with a corresponding price tag that makes it unattainable for the vast majority of buyers.

While many prospective buyers with average incomes are shocked by the sky-high EV prices and therefore have to choose from a relatively small number of affordable electric cars, there is an abundance of battery-powered vehicles available in the ultra-luxury market segment. In an effort to compete against the Tesla Model S, the German automaker BMW has recently introduced its latest EV in this price category above US$100,000; and the so-called BMW i7 has now finally been put through its paces by some reviewers.

Among other publications, a German reviewer from InsideEVs was invited to the according press event during which he had the chance to drive the BMW i7 on the scenic roads of sunny California. He praised the 536-hp sedan for its decent acceleration from 0 to 100 kph in 4.7 seconds, but the balanced weight distribution and low center of gravity of the BMW i7 also results in a very direct and precise handling. On the other hand, the reviewer criticized some overly complex functions and features of the electric BMW 7 Series, which could easily overwhelm drivers who are not technically adept.

He further noted that the electric sedan felt like it was designed for the American and Chinese market, which could possibly alienate some European buyers. Therefore, it is anything but surprising that the US-based YouTuber Kyle Conner from the channel “Out of Spec Reviews” throughly enjoyed the BMW i7 and even called it the new benchmark. The likable car reviewer seemed to be particularly impressed by the extremely quiet and perfectly isolated cabin, which can even rival a Rolls Royce in his opinion. Fore more impressions on the sinfully expensive BMW i7, we highly recommend watching his comprehensive video review, which is also embedded below this article.
