The Asus VivoBook Max X541SA is a laptop made for those who want a solid, cheap computer. It has some neat extras such as a large hard drive, a fake brushed metal finish and speakers that sound much better than most at the price. If you need a computer you’ll use extensively most days, though, we’d strongly advise getting one with an Intel Core i3 CPU rather than the Intel Pentium used here. While it’s the “next best” option, it is noticeably slower, regardless of what you’re doing. If £300, or even £400, is your max budget you also have to accept that you won’t get a dazzling screen. The VivoBook's dated display technology ensures image quality is, at best, passable. Still not put off? We won’t deny there’s a good amount on offer here for those on a very tight budget, with plenty of storage, wide-ranging connectivity and reasonable build quality.

In terms of basic specification the VivoBook Max X541SA should tick all the right boxes. It is available in an attractive brushed finish in either silver/white or red/blue and has a 15.6 inch 16:9 (1366 x 768) screen, an Intel dual-core Pentium processor N3710 1.6/2.56GHz (burst), 4GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive. This should prove adequate for the majority of school and college work as well as playing games and viewing videos and movies even though it would be unreasonable to expect it to cope with video editing and high speed gaming.

Asus VivoBook X751BP-TY048T
The Asus X751BP-TY048T is a simple 17.3-inch laptop with entry-level performance. It is an all-round companion with a brilliant 17-inch display, slim and light form factor and versatile features. The performance is not powerful, but the laptop offers a lot of storage space and 8 GB of RAM. Asus offers various other configurations in the X751 and F751 series as well. With this large of a size, this laptop is suitable as a desktop replacement but less suitable for frequent use. It offers sufficient performance for office and Internet use. The dimension of the laptop is 415 x 35.5 x 272 mm and the weight of the laptop is 2,800 grams. The Asus X751BP-TY048T is equipped with a shiny 17.3-inch panel with a native resolution of 1,600 x 900 pixels. Brightness, contrast and black value are not that high but are appropriate for this price range. The notebook can be used outdoors. However, a user should stick to well-shaded areas for good legibility because the glossy display reflects a lot of environmental lighting. Inside the Asus X751BP-TY048T, there is an AMD A9-9420 dual-core processor with 1 MB cache which runs at 3.00 GHz. The Turbo allows the speed to be boosted up to 3.60 GHz. The Turbo can be used on battery or plugged in. As for storage, the hard disk drive in the laptop runs at 5,400 rpm and offers a capacity of 1 TB. Asus divides the disk into two partitions, an OS partition (372 GB) and a data partition (537 GB). The AMD Radeon R5 is responsible for the graphics of the laptop. Like most of the notebooks and tablets from Asus, the X751 comes with a real specialty that makes all multimedia applications a real pleasure: the ASUS SonicMaster technology combines the highest quality audio hardware and professional audio software under one roof. As for operating system, the Asus X751BP-TY048T comes with Windows 10 Home 64 bit pre-installed. Extensive enhancements and new features keep the operation simple, but still offer more possibilities than before. In addition, various Windows devices such as smartphones, tablets, and PCs can be managed more easily than ever before and integrated into networks. For the battery, the laptop offers up to 4 hours battery life with a lithium-ion 4 cells 37 Wh battery. As for input and output interfaces, the Asus X751BP-TY048T features three USB 3.0 ports, a VGA port, and an HDMI port. It even has a DVD-RW burner, which is less common to be seen on a laptop these days. Networking ist possible via Gigabit LAN, Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. The Asus X751BP-TY048T is a simple, budget friendly laptop that best suits students and home users. It offers all that is needed to perform the usual office work. With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
76.38%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
