Archive.org versionThis is by far one of the most incredible laptops I have ever owned, or been privy to play with extensively. It is sleek and stylish and with the Core 2 Duo CPU it is smoking fast. It has great GPU power for the money and is highly customizable from a number of places. I recommend BTOTech for the great buying experience, fast ship times, and generally knowledgeable crew. I hope this machine has good longevity and holds up well...it seems, by the feel of it so far, that it will. The only thing I would like to see for this machine that's not offered is widescreen as well as a fingerprint reader for security and convenience.

Archive.org versionThe screen on the V6j is pretty good in the brightness department. You can crank it up if you want/need to, and it will still go really low for those times you don't need to see what is going on (you can even turn the backlight off if you would like). In the car and outside the screen is still usable with the brightness turned up (you might have several reflections, but that is more than expected with any and every laptop). When operating indoors on battery, you can easily turn the brightness down to save on power without compromising your ability to work.

Archive.org versionStrong performance thanks to Intel's Core Duo processor and 1GB of RAM, but some of the V6J's competitors offer better value for money. Intel's Core processor may only have been launched last month, but we've already seen a flurry of notebooks that take advantage of this impressive dual-core technology. In fact, the Asus V6J is the third notebook we've seen to use the Core Duo T2400 processor, with Evesham's Voyager C550 and Sony's VAIO VGN-FE11S debuting the 1.83GHz version last month. They scored 0.98 and 0.89 respectively, so it's no surprise to see the V6J managing a score of 0.91.

Archive.org versionOverall I am very satisfied with this notebook. I can easily have 15+ programs and 40+ windows open without any lag in performance, and furthermore, it is possible to play new games on medium setting while a virus scanner is running in the background. My only problem with the notebook is the CPU fan, which never stops. Personally I'm annoyed with the noise when sitting in a quiet room or at small meetings. However, this is quite subjective and co-workers of mine are not annoyed by the noise. I would definitely recommend this notebook to others, who need a cutting-edge notebook with an elegant design. Furthermore, it's possible to use it for both work and entertainment. The price is in the higher segment, which means that the target group is mainly professionals who need a notebook with both high performance and high mobility.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400: The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 the competitor to the ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. Caution there are some versions with reduced momry bus available.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Core Duo: Double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used together by the double. The maximum capacity of 31 watts is only 4 watts more than with the Pentium M (predecessor). Both cores are lowered automatically and independently of each other by speed steps down to 1 GHz. In addition it now supports also SSE3 instructions. At least it is just as fast as a equivalent Pentium M. With applications, which were designed for multi-processors, the performance can be nearly twice as fast as with the Pentium M (e.g. CineBench around 86% fast)
T2400: » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
