Reviews for the Asus TUF Gaming A14 FA401UV

Asus isn’t messing around with the TUF Gaming A14, as it’s absolutely perfect for anyone seeking to play on-the-go. With its portable 14-inch size, light weight at around 3 pounds, durable military grade toughness, and the best battery life we’ve seen on a gaming laptop in years, you will not be disappointed traveling with it. Beyond just that, it has solid RTX 4060 gaming performance, a decently colorful display that can reach high nits of brightness, and a satisfying keyboard. Only those who want a gaming laptop to use as a stationary machine won’t find much use in the TUF Gaming A14, as its greatest features would go to waste. A solid alternative would be the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, as it bumps its power up to an RTX 4070. Otherwise, the Asus TUF Gaming A14 is a winner.

Sure, gamers rave about Asus' flagship Zephyrus line packing all the good stuff (and being exorbitantly expensive). But you should spare a glance for the TUF Gaming A14, which at $1,399.99 brings enough power to the table to satisfy entry-level and mid-tier gamers as well as deftly handling any productivity or creativity apps you spend time with. The notebook packs a bright, colorful display with a springy keyboard and plenty of ports, too. To be sure, this price point brings some compromises, starting with the design. While some might like the understated aesthetic, the TUF doesn't exactly scream "gamer," especially without RGB keyboard lighting.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
