Asus G74 gaming laptops coming June 28th

Teaser
The new series will be coming in two models with 3D capabilities, starting at $1745

At least one online retailer is gearing up to ship the next high-end gaming laptop from Asus.

Called the G74, the 17.3-inch behemoth was first spotted at CeBIT earlier this year and left us impressed. The notebook includes a FullHD screen, quad-core i7-2630QM CPU, dual hard drives and fans, 12GB of DDR RAM, THX surround audio, and a GeForce GTX 560M GPU. A 3D model, called the G74SX-3DE, will also be available with Nvidia Vision 3D software. This specific model will house a Blu-ray burner as well, while the non-3D model (G74SX-A1) will ship with a Blu-ray reader. Of course, connectivity options such as HDMI, USB 3.0, 802.11n and VGA-out will come standard amongst both models.

The HDD and RAM will reportedly be easily accessible without the aid of tools from the underside of the G74 notebooks.

On the software side, both notebooks will make use of FastBoot, an “exclusive” Asus Windows 7 feature. With this technology, Asus is claiming boot up times of “a staggering 30 seconds.”

As the successor to the G73 series, the G74 appears similar to the previous generation in terms of chassis design. The new series is expected to come with an all matte finish, including its display. It is currently unknown if the 3D-enabled model will have a matte or glossy display.

The G74SX-3DE and G74SX-A1 are now available for pre-order for $1979 and $1745, respectively. The laptops are expected to ship June 28th, at least according to Laptoping.
