Deal | Amazon offers Epson EcoTank ET-8550 6-color photo printer with 13"x19" paper handling at its lowest price

The Epson EcoTank ET-8550 6-color photo printer is on sale at Amazon following a 33-percent discount from its MSRP of $749.99.

The EcoTank printer offers photo prints as large as 13" x 19", with support for glossy and fine art papers as thick as 1.3 mm, using 6-color Claria ET photographic dye inks. In addition to cyan, magenta, and yellow inks, the printer uses black, photo black, and gray inks to render smooth color gradations in both color and B&W prints at print resolutions as high as 5,760 x 1,440 dpi, says Epson.

The ET-8550 also comes with an 8.5" x 14" flatbed scanner capable of scanning originals at 4,800 dpi, 48-bit color to SD cards or computers. It can also be used to make color or B&W copies.

As a con, higher-end professional photo printers from Epson use more expensive pigmented inks, which increase print longevity. Wilhelm Imaging Research found unframed ET-8550 dye ink prints to last 26-28 years under simulated light exposure, while they found unframed Epson SureColor P700 pigmented ink prints to last over 62 years.
