Amazon Appstore now available in China

Teaser
Amazon makes paid Android apps available for Chinese consumers by extending their Appstore availability to the region.

While B&N recently raised the white flag and added Google Play support to their tablets, Amazon is pushing on with their own Appstore and making significant strides in the process. The latest advance comes in China, where Amazon has made their Appstore available, thereby adding paid apps to the country.

Although the Google Play store is accessible in China, only free apps can be downloaded, as premium services are not available due to various regulations. Thankfully, Amazon now allows users to access paid apps through their own Appstore which was introduced in China over the weekend. This marks the first paid Android store in the region, although Apple's App Store has been running for quite some time.

This latest push by Amazon isn't their first foray into China, as they opened a Kindle e-book store this past December. In addition, it is widely anticipated that the company will soon make their Kindle devices available in the region, but no specific date has been set.
