Airbus published a report on the state of the company for the the nine-month Jan 2024 to Sep 2024 period not so long ago, revealing it managed to deliver 497 commercial aircraft and reaffirming its goal of 770 aircraft deliveries for 2024. Now, we also know that the European company produced 62 planes in October 2024. Assuming the production target for 2024 remains unchanged, the company will have to make 211 planes over November and December meaning it will have to ramp up production rates by 71% compared to its October performance.
Supply chain disruptions over 2024 are named as the major reason behind this unenviable situation.
Airbus' production targets for the next few years are as follows:
- increase the A220 production rate to 14 per month by 2026;
- for the A320 family, a production rate of 75 aircraft per month by 2027 is the goal;
- A330: 4 aircraft a month by 2028;
- A350: 12 aircraft a month by 2028.
Airbus hopes to make an adjusted EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of €5.5 billion in 2024. For the first nine months of the year, the company reported an adjusted EBIT of €3.02 billion, or 9.2% of the total revenue. This represents 54.9% of the 2024 target.
The manufacturer expresses confidence in its ability to meet the goals, assuming no further disruptions to the global economy, air traffic, supply chains, or its internal operations happen.
