AMD has quietly launched the Ryzen 5 7400F in China, which joins the ever-growing list of Zen 4 CPUs. This new CPU costs CNY 849 in the Chinese market, which converts to around $116, making it one of the most affordable Zen 4 offerings within AMD's portfolio.
Of course, the international pricing won't be the same, but the Ryzen 5 7400F may not cross the $150 mark in the global market. As for the CPU itself, it comes with a 6-core and 12-thread configuration, the same as the 7500F. However, it has a slightly slower boost clock speed, at 4.7 GHz instead of 5.0 GHz of the 7500F. The base clock, however, is identical.
It's worth noting that the Ryzen 5 7400F doesn't come with an iGPU, which is quite expected from a CPU that costs around $120. So, builds with it will require a dGPU (XFX Speedster Radeon RX 6600 curr. $229.99 on Best Buy). As it stands, it seems AMD is primarily targeting OEMs and system integrators, but retailers often sell these types of CPUs on their own.
Regarding the performance, it should perform close to the Ryzen 5 7500F. After all, the 7400F has a similar CPU configuration. However, for the slower boost clock speed, the benchmark scores will be slightly lower than the 7500F. Still, it should offer a good price-to-performance ratio compared to the Ryzen 5 7600 and 7600X. The latter two typically go for $229 and $299, respectively.
While there's no word on global availability yet, AMD has confirmed that the Ryzen 5 7400F will make an international debut. You can learn more about this new Zen 4 CPU from the spec sheet attached below.
