A swipe for music: This Wi-Fi speaker combines hi-res sound, streaming, and an amplifier in one

Jamo (Amazon shop) has unveiled the HYG 5, a new all-in-one Wi-Fi speaker that brings streaming, an amplifier, and a speaker system together in a single fabric-covered enclosure. Its Scandinavian design makes it a natural fit for modern living spaces. The flagship speaker is available in three color options: light gray, a darker brown, and dark gray.
The standout feature is undoubtedly its innovative gesture control. A simple wave of the hand wakes the speaker and resumes music playback. For manual operation, users can turn to the touch control panel or, of course, the companion app.
Two 2.5-inch drivers, each powered by a 5-watt amplifier, deliver high-resolution audio, while a 4-inch woofer driven by a 20-watt amplifier extends bass response down to 40–45 Hz. The upper frequency limit is 18 kHz. Total amplifier output is rated at 30 watts RMS. Audio is supported at up to 24-bit/96 kHz resolution.

The system offers several connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a stereo RCA input for external devices such as turntables and CD players. However, Bluetooth codec support is limited to SBC and AAC, and the speaker uses Bluetooth 5. Wi-Fi connectivity supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
One notable feature is the speaker’s built-in support for a range of streaming services, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn, and QPlay II. AirPlay 2 and Google Cast are also available for multi-room audio.
The companion app provides access to additional settings. Users can customize the ambient lighting and fine-tune the sound to their preferences using the equalizer.
The Jamo HYG 5 launches on October 20, 2026. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is $399 on its website.
