A production issue delays the Android One Moto X4, won't arrive this week after all
The Moto X4 was confirmed at IFA 2017 as the international option in the ‘Android One’ family, and notably, it is the only Android One device currently available in North America. Unfortunately, those who pre-ordered early through Google/Project Fi have been receiving emails saying that their phones won’t arrive this week since there has been a production delay, and the phones will now be shipped between the 18th and 25th of October.
If you have opted for the trade-in option, this doesn’t impact your 30-day time limit since that countdown doesn’t start until you receive your new Moto X4. It also appears that only those who ordered early are affected as users who ordered since the start of October were given a later timeline, at the point of checkout, of around the end of October or the beginning of November — and they haven’t received any email delaying this.
The full email reads:
Hi there, thanks for ordering a new Android One Moto X4 from Project Fi. A production delay has impacted the estimated ship date for your new device, and your device should now ship between 10/18 and 10/25. You’ll receive a separate shipping confirmation as soon as your order ships. If you have already planned to trade in another device with your order, you’ll still have a full 30 days to send in your old phone after you receive your Android One Moto X4. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you again for your order. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We look forward to sending out your new phone as soon as we can! — Project Fi team.
The Moto X4 is powered by a Snapdragon 630 SoC, has 3 GB RAM (US Model), 32 GB Storage (US Model), 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3000 mAh battery, Dual rear camera (12 MP standard and 8 MP ultra-wide), and IP68 water and dust resistance. Pricing starts at US$399, significantly more than the Android One Xiaomi A1
