A new survey shows that developers are still unsure about VR
A survey (via Mixed News) conducted by The Game Developer Collective shows that game developers are not seeing the potential for the VR Games market. 56% of the respondents feel the market is "currently declining or stagnating," and only 23% feel it has shown moderate growth.
Of the people surveyed, 53% said they did not want to learn about VR development, and 13% said they didn't want to do it for the next six years. It's worth noting that the Game Developer Collective has not mentioned the number of people they surveyed.
Only 1% of the people said the market was growing strongly, and 6% believed their companies would transition to VR development in the next 2 to 5 years.
When asked whether the launch of a marquee product like the Apple Vision Pro had an impact, 72% said they had no plans to start developing games for Apple's headset.
According to an article on Statista, the AR and VR market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 8.97% to 3,728 million users by 2029. The market is projected to generate a revenue of $40.4 billion (€37.4 billion or £31.8 billion) in 2024.
