AI is becoming an increasingly important part of our daily lives, and is also present in many fields. But soon, a revolution could be underway, as you'll be asked to create your own series with the help of this technology and Amazon.
So, while the meteoric advance of AI may frighten many professions, Amazon doesn't seem to be of the same opinion and wants to bank on innovation on a grand scale. According to Variety, the company has invested an undisclosed sum in the start-up Fable Simulation. If you're not familiar with the company, it specializes in virtual reality using AI.
It also owns the Showrunner platform, which can help you become the director of your own series. It's worth noting that Showrunner lets you produce episodes of a series while telling the story you want to tell. In this way, you can mix and match a wide range of universes, including well-known characters and new heroes and anti-heroes.
While this project may seem totally far-fetched, the company wants to go even further. Indeed, to launch such a feature, resources are needed to be able to offer quality AI that will perfectly meet users' expectations. Fable's CEO and founder, Edward Saatchi, told Variety that he was in talks with Disney to obtain permission to use several licenses belonging to the group.
And while this may seem like a disadvantage compared with other job-creating productions, Edward Saatchi gives his opinion on the project: “Hollywood streaming services are about to become two-way entertainment: audiences watching a season of a show and loving it will now be able to make new episodes with a few words and become characters with a photo”. In other words, if you don't want your favorite program to end, you can always take control of it.
The platform will be free of charge in the coming months. Thereafter, however, you can expect to pay a subscription fee of between 10 and 20 euros per month. It's worth noting that the test phase has already attracted over 10,000 users, demonstrating a certain enthusiasm on the part of users.
However, beyond the unfair competition that could arise in this market, the use of AI in free access could lead to a number of problems. Indeed, some users could misuse it, raising a number of ethical issues. It would therefore be wise for Fable to set certain limits on content creation.
