The Xiaomi 15S Pro is on the horizon, with the company having scheduled its launch for tomorrow at 19:00 local time (11:00 UTC). In the meantime, an early review has showcased Xiaomi's new Xring O1 chipset and how it compares against the Snapdragon 8 Elite that can also be found in the smaller Xiaomi 15 (curr. $1,069 on Amazon).
Meanwhile, Xiaomi's founder Lu Weibing has already shown off its new flagship smartphone on Chinese social media. In the process, Weibing has hinted at a few hardware features, including the presence of a periscope telephoto camera. On the one hand, the usual sign of an oblong lens can be seen in Xiaomi 15S Pro close-ups. On the other hand, a shot of the device's mainboard contains a cut-out for what is clearly a periscope telephoto housing.
On top of that, an inscription on the device's camera housing reveals that this camera will provide a 120 mm equivalent focal length, just like the equivalent inside the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Likewise, the Xiaomi 15S Pro will retain a 14 mm ultra-wide-angle camera. Seemingly, the device's primary and telephoto cameras will feature f/1.44 and f/2.5 apertures too, just like its predecessor. As a result, it remains to be seen if Xiaomi will include any camera upgrades between the Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 15S Pro. Instead, the company's focus appears to be on its XRing O1 chipset.
