Reviews for the Toshiba Satellite P205-S6347
Toshiba Satellite P205 Review

The Toshiba P200/P205 notebook is the latest 17" offering from Toshiba that can be equipped with a variety of options at great prices. So come on in and read our thoughts and the review of the P205!
The Toshiba P205 is definitely a nice notebook with many nifty features and no extra crap that consumers do not want (except for bloatware). Options for the laptop are virtually endless and allow for anything in between budget offerings all the way up to a gamer laptop, and most of the upgrade options are fairly priced.
The build quality is a little above average for a laptop in this price range but I would recommend that stronger materials be used in the keyboard deck in the next refresh model to earn an excellent rating from me. The screen is big and bright, and should be excellent for any multimedia use. HD capabilities can be had for cheap in this laptop, with all the hardware needed built right in to decode and play your videos (recommend a 2.0GHz T7300 processor though).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip on a Mobile Intel 965GM chipset. It is the successor of GMA 950 and features a fully programmable pipeline (supports Aero Glass fully and DirectX 10 with newest drivers). The peformance of the X3100 is clearly better than the GMA 950, still demanding modern games won't run fluently.
Only older games can be played fluently with these graphics chips (if they were not too demanding). Shared memory graphic cores in this category got the advantage of less heat production and longer battery runtimes. For office, internet, image processing, and video editing tasks these graphics chips are still useable without any restrictions.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.

17.1": Nowadays, meanwhile the 17 inch display size is a more frequently offered standard format for desktop-replacements. 17 inch laptops are built only in 16:10 format.
The DTR-Laptops can't be carried easily, need much current, but on the other side texts can be read easily and high resolutions are no problem. DTR mainly are intended for stationary usage on desks, where the weight and the energy need are unimportant.

3.5 kg: This laptop is heavy below average, compared with the average of notebooks. Therefore especially desktop replacements fit in this class of weight.
Toshiba: Toshiba is one of the biggest international notebook-manufacturer. There exist many reviews for Toshiba models. The ratings of German magazines are very positive, but the relation of price and value is evaluated rather average. The ratings according the features and display are also quite well for Toshiba notebooks.
