Many video game projects are eagerly awaited by fans, such as Half-Life 3, and look promising in terms of both gameplay and storyline. But sometimes, certain projects are already the subject of much criticism before their official release is announced, as is the case with this MMO inspired by The Lord of the Rings universe.
Indeed, millions of fans are eagerly awaiting the release of an official title based on this license. But in the absence of any news, they are turning to games that are strongly inspired by it, such as Project N, a Korean game. This game from the Polestar Games studio seems to be thinking big, and is already shaping up to be a AAA hit.
The graphics are beautiful and up to today's standards. But that's not all, because an MMO also means a large map. And this will indeed be the case with this title, which will feature a world of 3 600 km2 in virtual size, allowing you to discover a wide variety of landscapes throughout your adventure.
There will be plenty of combat to remind you of The Lord of the Rings. Indeed, in the recently unveiled trailer, you can see orcs and a troll being attacked by several individuals. Of course, this is only the first glimpse of this new game, and the initial information is reassuring, even promising.
Nevertheless, there's a shadow over the horizon, and it's unlikely to surprise many people. Polestar Games has announced that it is working with Cross. If this name doesn't ring a bell, it's a structure specializing in the play-to-earn monetization system.
At first glance, this may seem beneficial, as you can earn rewards by playing and farming. But in reality, this system has often led to the emergence of pay-to-win, and thus to a huge imbalance for many players and the economy of the game concerned. Therefore, following this logic, it would be possible to expect this system to make its appearance on this game. And many players already fear this element, although no release date has yet been announced by the studio, although it should appear sometime in 2026.
